I strongly believe that added sugars on food products should be stated on nutrition labels. These products are inclined to have added sugars that are not clearly labelled on the packaging. It is stated that sugar is clearly labelled on the packaging but are we intaking the actual amount of sugar written on the box? Many Australians are over consuming added sugars and we may not comprehend what are in these products. Added sugars are sugar that we find in our kitchen and syrups that are added to our everyday products where they are processed and which doesn't include natural sugars found in such as fruits. It gives you an inaccurate and unreliable source of what you are intaking. Therefore it is nearly impossible to tell the difference. We need clear

We are intaking these unnecessary sugars. Sugars have been added to modify the overall product and the taste that's why they Tower these products with sugar. Products which contain added sugars such as sweetened beverages, cereal, biscuits are the primary contributors to added sugar. Yes, there are people who may not even look at the packaging but it is inconceivable of knowing how much sugar has been added just by observing the label. The total doesn't differentiate sugars that have been manufactured. It may be evident that there are sugars in sweet products but it might not be conspicuous that there are also sugars in chips, crackers and just about every processed food the you can find. There are sugars in products such as in chips something that may not be too recognisable. It is evident that current label is are false advertising their products. You see products on shelves that say new and improved with 30% less sugar and all they have done is repackaged the food. Is it really worth buying something that is like a reflection of the first
Videos slide The problem is, many brands are doing this – most companies are relying on these misleading assumptions to fool consumers and increase the revenue and brand recognition of their products, and making it look enticing to buy due to its possible health benefits However, the government does have a system to help stop this from happening, the health star rating system. The system, introduced two years ago, has a score out of 5 for packaged and processed goods (5 being the highest), considered ‘a quick way to compare the nutritional value of processed and packaged food’ and encouraging consumers to make healthier choices. Supporters of the health star system hoped it would encourage companies to make their food healthier, and this worked for some brands. Nutri-grain, for example, found that it had only 2 stars, primarily because a full third of it was sugar.

information on the back of the item is rather than the label on the front that reads, ‘reduced fat’. Buyers are unaware of the added sugar disguised behind ‘reduced fat’ and any word ending in ‘-ose’ in the ingredients. The food companies only care about the money made off of their products. Therefore, they reduce one thing, such as fat, to attract the consumer and add more of another, such as sugar, to retain the regular taste. Across the United States, people are
“there’s a fundamental difference between the sugar that you find in fruits & vegetables and the sugar that you find in a large Mountain Dew. The sugar in a lot of these carbonated drinks is highly concentrated simple sugar, the kind that will spike your blood glucose levels, reduce your insulin response over time (leading to Type 2 diabetes) and almost immediately get stored in your body as fat.” There is a difference between sugar from nature and sugar that is processed. Sugar that is processed is highly concentrated because of this it tends to increase your blood glucose levels higher than natural sugar. With high
The commonly used artificial sweetener, Aspartame, is a toxic substance that must to be banned from use in any and all foods in the United States, if not the world. Aspartame, which is used by the companies NutraSweet® and Equal®, is has created a whole new wave of medical complications that could be easily prevented and stopped, if only the FDA did what they’re paid to do. You’ll see most people do not read the labels of the food they are buying. This is because they don’t care, it takes time and people nowadays are very busy. Like Berry said, “they buy what they want-or what they have been persuaded to want-within the limits of what they can get.” People are accustomed to buying what they have been taught to buy by their parents or caretakers as they were growing up. We learn to eat what we have been given as children and we tend to follow that same pattern of eating, which, for most people, is what we can

There are three main types of simple sugars to look out for; Glucose, which is produced when, starches and carbs are broken down by the digestive system, this is one of the body’s preferred sources of energy. Next is Fructose, it’s common in fruit and also packaged treats you can find in a store. When too much is consumed it can in a sense flood your bloodstream and enter your liver which processes excess sugar into fat! This is of course leads to weight gain, especially around the abdomen, where your liver is located. Last is Sucrose, most-commonly known as your table sugar that most people add to their cereals or coffee. With that these three types of sugars are the most-commonly consumed ones throughout the states. Another way to recognize there are to think, anything that ends with ‘ose’ is considered sugar. An easy way to remember it by is to think ‘ose’ is gross!

We always see advertisements of how athletes from all over the world patronize energy drink. One of the reasons is that they actually benefit them from having them as sponsors, and of course, they are like the perfect people to endorse it. Athletes need all the energy they could get, however, this doesn’t necessarily mean that they consume gallons of energy drink every single time they have a game to win. There are a lot of energy drinks and supplements out there, but obviously, these are full of artificial flavorings and a lot of unhealthy ingredients, that can be good for the body, but only an ample amount of it. Just like everything else in the world, energy drinks are too far from being perfect, and it is certainly not better than water.
