Martin Luther King, Jr. has the combination of bravery, motivator, and selflessness to make him an inspiring person. King fought for equal rights for his people and did not do it alone. With the help, he not only succeeded in receiving the rights for his people, but created a little more peace in the world. He made it possible so that people did not judge others just because of the color of their skin. With Gandhi in his mind to use nonviolence as a strategy throughout his marches and speeches, he did something that inspired people to follow.
Strength and humanity are two of the characteristics of Natty Bumppo that made him a hero and those still exist for the hero’s traits today. Strength is one of the important characteristics to expect in any hero, because if a person is strong then they can stand up for somebody else and help the weak person overcome something that they are struggling with. In the story “Last of the Mohicans”, Natty Bumppo had shown the characteristic of strength and stood up for somebody else. Natty helped one militia man to escape the fort so the man can go back home and protect his family from danger. Even though Natty knew helping the man escape was against the British Colonel’s wishes, he still successfully got the man out of the fort and danger through many difficulties.
We need this kind of hero as people should enjoy the freedom they deserve and it is a human right. Gandhi had helped the Indians to escape the control of the act and he often risked himself in danger of being caught or killed. In other words, he wasnever a coward in his journey of fighting what is right for people. He was willing to sacrifice himself more for others’ future
Gandhi believed in not only spreading this as a practice but lives his life based on this doctrine. Non-violence looks good on paper, and seems like it would function well, there would be less blood in our world, and instead more conversations, more peace between people and nations but would this really hold up completely today? In the most recent war Afghanistan what would have happened if the president had decided to practice pacifism and do nothing in return based on our beliefs that war is always wrong? Was this even an option for our country? Our president as our leader decided to act accordingly in response to the events going on to protect our nation.
Boo Radley, like Atticus, is also a hero because he shows sacrifice for others. Using this definition of heroism, there may be other heroes in the book. However, Bob Ewell is a coward because he endangered the life of others to protect himself. He demonstrates many characteristics that are the opposite of heroism. Heroism can be shown in many different ways.
Gandhi fought relentlessly for India’s independence from Britain, but he did not fight in the way many people today think of when they hear the word “fight”. Gandhi fought without fists but with courage, heart, empathy, and, most importantly, with love – love for self, love for others, and love for his country. Gandhi confirms that one who loves himself, others, and his country enough to sacrifice himself and devote himself to ahimsa has the power to change the world. If an individual wants to make a difference he should follow the ways in which Mahatma Gandhi lived his life; Gandhi led a life of nonviolence in his everyday life, in the form of civil disobedience, and as a foundation for independence. As Gandhi did, when one reaches a full understanding of nonviolence and acts upon it, he alone can make a difference.
Athenians strived for grace and precision and so did Mahatma Gandhi by starting various movements. He even went to prison just for the sake of saving his country by not being what Britishers wanted him to be. His thinking was based on the perspective that any person should not say anything offensive to anyone, should not hear anything bad or insulting and should not perceive anything that would cause harm or injury. Similarly Athenians took initiative in public affairs and also took part in the improvement of public matters. Athenians were good people who understood the rules and regulations of the society and knew how to abide by them without harming anyone.
That is what Beowulf ordained and that is how he is defined as a hero. His driving motivation to fight through fear, was because he cared about the people of his beloved village. He cared more for the innocent, more than he cared about his pride. Beowulf was a hero because of his fervent fight for the families in his
This shows how King was showing heroism because, he was brave enough to stand in front of a crowd full of people with different opinions and tell them what he hopes for his children’s future. Another piece of evidence that shows how King is a hero states, “Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter.” This means that we will not be living our lives if we never speak up for what we want. This shows how King is showing heroism because instead of him just doing nothing about the matter of racial discrimination, he is strong and courageous enough to come up with a powerful speech that helped change many people’s
There are no longer any massacres like there was in the 1980’s. Mandela was an extreme supporter of democracy and believed that each individual person had rights and that they should not be taken away. Mandela received a great amount of awards for his fight for peace in South Africa. He even received the Nobel Peace Prize for his efforts in South Africa. The human race needs to learn to live more like Mandela and try to help their fellow man out, instead of fighting.
