Introduction Nurses are caring individuals who does not discriminate people either because of their race, ethnicity, religion, gender, and disability. Nowadays, there are many students with disabilities (SWD) who are admitted to nursing programs. Schools are expected to provide accommodations to support the SWD in achieving their goals and become a competent nurse. This author will discuss social, legal, and ethical factors that affects testing in nursing education involving SWD.

Nurse educators should not assume that students automatically possess the principle of accountability during the nursing program, since this is not always true. Krautscheid (2014) discussed that accountability is imperfectly taught in nursing programs due to the complexity. Accommodations being offered includes personal services, attendants, and support devices. Other ADA requirements for educators is to provide assistance for SWD such as options in test taking (oral, written, and computer), extended test time, and allowing interpreters (Oermann & Gaberson, 2014). Another legal factor in nursing were discussed by Azzopardi, et al. (2014), in which they mentioned the amendment in the Disability Discrimination Act in 2009. The revision states that educators are now expected to provide simulation as part of their proactive approach in supporting SWD. The simulation will assess the SWD ability and comprehension to help determine adjustments to be implemented by the educators (Azzopardi, et al., 2014). Dupler et al. (2012), added that there has been misrepresentation about the amendment of Disability Discrimination Act regarding the meaning of the word disability. Disability of a student is defined as an impairment in physical and mental status in which ability of daily living has limitations.
