With college coming around the corner know what I need to do to excel during college. My academic strengths are sciences in terms of biology and sports medicine and English. Also I am a visual learner. My last 2 years of high school I took a internship program at my high school. During my time at the site, I was taught sports medicine. I caught on pretty quickly and the information stuck with me. My first strength is English. I consider this one of my strengths because I like poetry. Sometimes in my free time I love to read. My favorite kinds of books are on running and sports. My last strengths are, visual and experience and learn. These strengths and weaknesses were mainly discovered through the papers that we have written. I have many strengths when I’m writing papers and at the same time, I have many weaknesses. In my papers, I have noticed that one of my biggest strengths is how articulate I am. The papers that have been written by myself show that I structured sentences to present ideas in different ways. It is not straightforward and boring when ideas are presented. I like to keep the reader hooked on my paper. In order to keep up with this strength, I like to read articles. The articles I read are typically the ones that present new ideas or start arguments. This is one of my strengths that I am very proud

Success isn’t given, it’s earned on the track, on the field, and in the gym with blood, sweat, and the occasional fear” -Unknown. This is relevant because it is hard for students to want to play sports but also to do well in school. If high school students can’t find the time to keep their grades up or to keep a certain GPA, they should not be allowed to play sports. Students need to prove themselves to be able to play any sport and still be able to do well in school. Also, having good grades shows the coach maturity and may earn them more playing time if they are working hard in school and in practice.
My personal strengths are that I read and remember things well from most sources. I can process new information easily which helps with various forms of math and science. However, I also possess several weaknesses. I sometimes shy
Grades, are a way to show how a student’s effort and work processes. They track progress, they reflect the quality of work the students can achieve. I, have learned a lot of new things this first year of the career center about Photoshop, even though I have used Photoshop before in the past. I believe that I’ve gained a 87 as a grade for Graphics Design class. I have always been here to class, mostly on time, and have an excellent attendance. Occasionally, late in the past and missed one or two days. But, most of the time I’m here and ready to learn for the everyday.
I was not ready, focused, or dedicated and as a result it reflected in my poor grades. This left me feeling like a failure, and my confidence was low in my abilities. It would take years before I would I feel confident enough in my abilities to return to college. As years passed I became focused, goal oriented, confident, and realized the path I wanted to pursue. It was a constant gnawing feeling to return to college. Once I felt confident in my abilities to succeed in college, I enrolled. As a result my grades improved to a 3.27 GPA. My academic strengths are my ability to focus, endure, prioritize and study. My deficiencies would be time management. I have set aside a time frame for study time this is what helped me to succeed in my undergrad program.
I concluded my 8th grade year with 9 a's and 5 b's, contrarily my 9th grade report card included 5 f's and 3 d's. "Your mistakes do not define who you are, you are your possibilities." - Oprah Winfrey. This quote reflects my high school journey because though I've made innumerable mistakes throughout high school thus far, and continue to make mistakes by not prioritizing my education, I refuse to give up and I will not let my mistakes make me.
After completing the Clifton strength finders test, I learned my dominant strengths and it gave me a sense on what areas I am strong in. It allows you to work in the areas that you are good in and not in the ones you might not be as strong in. My top five strengths were learner, connectedness, belief, positivity, and includer. A lot of these I figured I would have because I am an athlete and I love to be positive. That is good because I practice these strengths every day which in turn will make me better at them and will allow me to use them in my career.
For personal and professional growth, given my personality traits, I need to embrace my strengths and weaknesses. I must use my strengths to my advantage, to be more effective academically and in the workplace, but I also need to identify and try to overcome my weaknesses, especially professionally.
My strengths as a learner are I'm quick to pick up new things however I am bad at math. In the past when I needed help with math I asked my dad for help, however when I was at school I stayed late and got one on one help from my teachers. i asked a lot of questions and took great notes. While enrolled here at Colorado State University Global Campus if I need help I can access the Online tutoring help and I can email the teachers and get help from them. I have a great support system, my mom and dad are always a phone call away if ii need help, they are both extremely happy that I have chosen to go back to school. There are skills I have picked up via my studies in college too, which I believe make me the ideal student. One of my most improved skills is my Presentation abilities, when I first started college I hated the idea of standing up in front of everyone and speaking, but via increasing my confidence and repeatedly doing presentations it no longer fazes me. I am also quite an articulate person, which I noticed via proof reading for my friends, I can immediately spot spelling mistakes and if a sentence doesn 't flow correctly, this makes me hyper critical of my own work before I hand it in to be
To begin, I am going to write about my weaknesses and how they transitioned into strengths. First, I remember after each assignment in class was introduced I
The very first and most basic thing I learned this semester, was how to examine my study skills. Using the given self-evaluations I was able to gain a more complete understanding of my strengths and weaknesses as a student. I found that I excel at time management. I am not one to procrastinate and I am a very effective planner. Another personal area of strength in regard to study skills is my ability take notes. I have a very effective foundation in note-taking and this has continued into my undergraduate career. Although I am confident in my abilities as a student and do feel that I have a solid set of study skills, there is always room for improvement. I’ve learned this semesters that I could improve my skills in a variety of ways. The first, and easy step for a better studying experience would be to create a defined study space. I would be able to study in a more sophisticated manner if I spent my time at a clean desk with adequate lighting rather than in bed or on the floor. As a more complicated improvement, I could use some practice and/or skill training on learning how to differentiate what is crucial ...
1. I encountered the most significant challenge when I moved to Canada in January, 2012. Before I came to Canada, my English grade was very good in China, thus, I thought living and studying in Canada would not be too difficult. However, I did not do well in the ESL evaluation at all, and I was placed in ESL 1 at my high school. Most of my classmates there spoke very little English, and they did not spend much time and effort on studying English. It was very difficult for me to study if I wanted to be their friends and at that time, they were the only friends I had in Canada. However, I expected much more effort from myself. I studied very hard and became the 2nd fastest ESL students ever to complete ESL 1 to 4 in my high school. Today, when I recall what I have accomplished, I think I learnt to trust myself and at the same, success in anything only comes from hard work.
My experience with school was very challenging and overcoming my personal struggles was not an easy feat. I started Kindergarten with an Individualized Education Program (IEP) and I’m thankful that my preschool teacher recognized my learning challenges and encouraged my parents to have me evaluated. We found out that I had ADHD and learning disabilities that would make academic achievement a challenge for me. More specifically, I had difficulty decoding words and pronouncing some letter sounds such as “R’s” and “W’s”. As a result, excelling in school was a challenge due to my disability and the reaction of other students to my disability only made it more difficult.
