Thesis statement
Academic success by students can be attributed to a lot of things most importantly the efforts of the students. This can be achieved through the setting of goals which provide the basic motivation and the desire to move ahead. The learner is expected to perfect his learning skills identifying the best learning style, writing skills, and reading skills. It is also important to keep in mind academic integrity as it is the guiding principle for success both in school and in the career ahead.

In high school, teachers encourage the use discussions, study guides, and constantly checking with students' progress as a way of encouraging learning. As one advance in school (college), most of the learning responsibility falls on the student, therefore, it is vital to understand the learning process. The learning cycle has four very critical steps: preparing, absorbing, capturing and reviewing. Learning an academic subject involves fully comprehending it to the point of applying it various situations that are meaningful. This is contrary to memorizing that only fits the situation it was created for. Different students have different learning styles, each style being effective to different learners. It is also important to note that lecturers also use different styles of teaching which may or may not go well with ones learning the style. There are several learning styles that students can use including Verbal, visual, rhythmic, interpersonal, logical naturalist among others. The primary function of university resources is to aid the learning process ensuring that students become successful. Some of the common examples of resources inside the university include library books, student advocacy offices, among others. The library provides the best source of learning materials to complement what is taught in class. Many universities also have embraced technology providing online portals where students can get lecture materials, assignments and test practices to help them in achieving their goals. Lecturers, friends, and classmates too can be a very good source of learning materials. Educational websites and blogs also have created a hub for academic sources making learning materials
