They want to use simple terms and discussions to reach a wider span of audience. Aside from that, it promotes audience interaction through surveys and polls. ... statements of Abunda and Aquino, people should be able to filter statements that are logical and right from statements that may contain bias and unfairness. In the show, there is not much to consider if the topic they are conveying are only lives of the showbiz personalities since the tandem of Abunda and Aquino are arguably great. They have been in this field since 1995 when they are still working in the GMA Network at Startalk. They transferred in ABS-CBN and have been hosts in the morning talk show entitled “Boy and Kris”, in Sunday entertainment talk show “The Buzz” and lately the “SNN”. But politics is different. People should be extra careful on the opinionated portions of the show because nowadays, what is shown is not necessarily what is true.
With the rapid growth of new digital media technologies, such as the Internet, the public has more choices and opportunities to communicate with people globally. As Bill Gates proclaimed, “the Internet is becoming the town square for the global village of tomorrow.” Media can determine the tremendous role its play in not only our daily lives but also its profound impact on modern society’s cognitive perception of the world. The initial proposal for this paper is to answer how the Internet transforms Guatemalan society as well as improves Guatemalan women’s right, in particular, indigenous women in rural areas. The first assumption here is that the Internet is a vital tool to raise awareness of women’s rights in Guatemala. Minorities in the country, particularly indigenous women have less equally or inferiorly treated by its society. On the other hand, Guatemalan women’s liberation is an inseparable piece of its society’s liberation, which would drive economy flourish and politics more actively. In the context of women’s liberation, the education for women has significantly affected the region. According to the USAID, “more than two million children do not attend school – most of them are indigenous girls in rural areas.” Ultimately distribution of more equal educational opportunities for women plays a significant role in achieving social, political and economic equality in society. So the second assumption and more contentious one is that through utilizing an emerging new media and improving women’s rights in Guatemala, this country would be able to rise in GDP and per capita as well as more active political participation, which could reform a democratic system in Guatemala. By undertaking an in-depth analysis, it i...
“Amusing Ourselves to Death” by Neil Postman is a piece that focuses on the effects that technology has on public discourse and politics. He believes that the development of the television has habituated us to constantly needing to be entertained, which changes the way we take in information. It is no longer the substance that we value but rather the entertainment value. An important point that Postman evaluates in chapter 9 is that politics has become similar to show business. With politicians paying more attention to their image than political issues the integrity of modern politics can only be questioned. To update Postman’s arguments, although the television has allowed political figures to present the image their audience wants to see the internet has allowed for all aspects of one’s life to be accessible, which changes the way we view their credibility.
...0). Traditional newscasts are not only dumbing down and sensationalizing the news to bring more interest into their programming, but this can be detrimental to the political process. The Daily Show is uses comedy to show the ridiculousness of the political world and news media for his viewers to take politics seriously (Hariman, 2007). The Daily Show has been awarded with prestigious awards, such as two Peabody Awards, 18 Primetime Emmys, a Television Critics Association Award, and also a Grammy Award. (Feldman, 2007). It can be said, entertainment based shows can have the potential to not only educate, but entertaining as well. Today’s generation have grown up in a world where the distinction between of entertainment and news shows have been obscured, The Daily Show has proven the televisions shows can provide the public with entertaining political information.
Complacency permeates in the people feeding the power of democratic tyrants. Politics is widely considered to be corrupt. We the people must stay informed in order to assist’ honesty in politics.
The theme of the show centered on the Filipino people, the Filipino culture, the Filipino spirit, the Filipino strength, the Filipino’s hope, the Filipino’s dreams and the Filipino as one in one great nation. O. (2015), the importance of mutual trust and tolerance in relationship between the governing and the governed should not be overlooked, especially in the presence of citizens or electors. The governing power would stand a chance for the access to a target audience or for voting behavior. Political communication is planned and mutual recognition publicity practices which are performed in the presence of target audience, in order to build that tolerance and trust. Applied practices of political communication are often confused with each other due to their common points. These practices have a common point that they are essentially based on
One may think that the person solely responsible for directing the reins of our nation towards its path rests on the shoulder of the President, but I have come to realize that nobody possesses that kind of power. Therefore, it is safe to conclude that every voice ringing out for the Philippines contributes in some way to the direction in which our country goes. Presidents are not the only ones responsible for all the success nor are they liable for all the failures our dear country faced since all of us share the burden of those actions. They are in that position in order to plan an action and lead us to a brighter future; consequently, it falls in our hands to contribute and follow as well. For it is important to remember that it takes a whole lot of Filipinos to raise a country such as the Philippines.
It is notoriously accepted that there is no single precise definition of political communication since ‘political’ and ‘communication’ themselves have varieties of definition. In order to critically discuss the changes that the Internet has brought to political communication, this essay is going to define political communication as purposeful communications about politics (McNair, 2011: 4). As McNair (2011:6) and Norris (2010) state that political communication involves the interactive process between political organizations, media and citizens. Moreover, media is a crucial element that links political organizations and citizens in various ways. The downward communication from political organizations to citizens, horizontal communication between parties, public organizations, pressure groups, terrorist organizations and governments and upward communication from citizen to political organizations all require media to disseminate the information. Media comprises print, broadcasting and online channels. With the development of information technology and Internet, online channels are becoming increasingly significant for political communication. This essay particularly focuses on changes that Internet has brought to political communication. Firstly, some positive impacts that Internet has brought to political communication will be explained. Secondly, this essay is going to demonstrate several negative effects on political communication that coincide with the expansion use of Internet by politician. Specific examples of how politicians use Internet in political communication will be utilized to analyze these changes.

Life is a blessing from God. It is the most precious gift a being can receive. This has been given to us in order to protect, love, and serve every single being that is created in this world and none of us has the right to take it away from others. But then many people don’t believe and follow this rule, right?
By informing the citizenry of what its government and other centres of power are doing, the media becomes itself an integral part of the political process. By monitoring the centres of power-political, economic, and social—the media functions to keep them in check. The second role of the media involves an educational function. It includes reporting on and promoting discussion of ideas, opinions, and truths toward the end of social refinement of those ideas, opinions and truths. In this role the media follows the tradition of the town meeting. Third, the media functions as a utility, a conduit of information about what is happening. It operates as the society’s “bulletin board.” The fourth function is social or cultural.
