Abu Musab al-Zarqawi- Born October 30, 1966, in Al-Zarqa, Jordan. Iraqi militant who as the self-styled leader in Iraq of the Islamic militant group al-Qaeda, was thought by many to have been the leader behind numerous terrorist acts, including the murder in 2002, the 2003 bombing, and the beheading of several foreign hostages. He dropped out of school as a boy and allegedly became involved in criminal activities. He traveled in 1989 to Afghanistan, where he reportedly forged ties with al-Qaeda. After returning to Jordan in the early 1990s, he was put in prison for terrorist activities, but he was released in a general amnesty in 1999. Zarqawi was little known outside the region until U.S. officials in 2003 identified him as an associate of al-Qaeda founder Osama bin Laden. Zarqawi was killed in a U.S. military air strike on June 7, 2006, in Baʿqubah, Iraq.

Osama bin Mohammed bin Awad bin Laden was born in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, in 1957 and he was surrounded by 49 brothers and sisters. His family was really rich because of his father who was a billionaire, and owned one of the biggest construction companies of the kingdom. Bin Laden attended a high leveled school during his childhood, which combined British style secular education with Islamic worship. During his college years, he went to King Abd Al University to study four different courses: civil engineering, public administration, business and economics. In the 1970’s, when he was only 17 years old, bin Laden married his first cousin, and later on married three other women (marrying several times was permitted among Muslims). From a little age, Osama was religiously committed, and whenever his father hosted hundreds of pilgrims during the Hajj, bin Laden had a great time getting to know the gatherers and making new contacts. American Sniper is about American war hero Chris Kyle. Chris Kyle was born in Texas who grew up in a house where the father had a eat or get eaten mentality. Chris Kyle was a bull rider until he saw bombings on tv happen where he immediately went to sign up for the military. He went through Navy Seal training and eventually became a sniper through training. Kyle fought over in the Iraq War. Before he went on his first tour he met a girl at a bar, and they eventually got married before leaving for his first tour. Between tours they started a family, when Chris was back in between tours he started showing signs of withdrawal from war, for example damaged hearing and grief. While over in Iraq he became such an infamous sniper he had a bounty put on his head. While over there he felt bad that he was missing his family grow up but felt he owed his country. Finally after 4 tours he stayed at home with his family in Texas. He had trouble adjusting back to civilian life, he was on edge and visibly more violent. In past history, heroes come in many different facets of life. The military has produced many of these heroes. Chris Kyle a United States Navy SEAL was one of those heroes. Chris grew up in various locations in Texas. His father worked for AT&T as a manager and they moved around frequently. Chris loved to fight as he stated “Somewhere along the way, I started sticking up for younger kids who were being picked on. I felt I had to look out for them. It became my duty. Maybe it began because I was looking for an excuse to fight without getting in trouble” (American Sniper, Chris Kyle, 21).
Ayatollah Khomeini’s foundation to become the central figure and religious leader of the Iranian Revolution began in his childhood. He was born into a fairly wealthy Shi’ite Muslim family on September 24, 1902. His true name was Ruhollah Musavi, but he adopted the name of Khomeini after his place of birth. He never really knew his father because his father was murdered in 1903. When Khomeini was four years old, he began attending a local religious school and continued to attend it until he was sixteen years old. He then furthered his education at a theological college. He studied with Yazdi Ha’iri, a prominent Islamic scholar at the time. After he completed his college education, he became an Islamic teacher at Ha’iri’s school. After Ha’iri died, Ayatollah Boroujerdi took his place as the most important religious figure, and Khomeini became a follower. Khomeini preached against the continuing stray from traditional Islam in Iran and gained a group of followers. He gained the title of ayatollah, meaning a ‘sign of God,’ in the 1950s.
