Abstinence is the Only Thing that can Work
Sex outside marriage is at best, wrong; at worst deadly. Today's children are basing their decisions about sex on moral and social values. The accepted moral code is pretty black and white - don't. Our society, however, has always been able to bend the rules to suit the current trend. Right now that trend is, "young people shouldn't have sex outside of marriage, but if they do, they should do it safely." Herein lies the problem: Because most adults grew up in the "sexual freedom" era of the 1960's they don't feel that they should have to give up that freedom. Therefore they would be hypocrites if they taught abstinence as the only effective way to stay safe. This attitude is reflected in the current sex education courses.
The falacy of having 'safe sex' outside of marriage is just that: a fallacy. There is no such thing as 'safe sex.' Children have to realize the risk they are taking by engaging in sexual activity. They aren't just sleeping with one person, but with everyone that person has slept with. There is more at stake then pregnancy and AIDS, such as 100 other sexually transmitted diseases. Children feel that they are immune to the big issues and aren?t even being told about the diseases that can cause perminant damage.

I am not against people wanting to wait until marriage, and I don’t care if people personally do not want to use contraceptives. What does bother me is when people begin to limit other people’s freedoms and expect other people to adhere to the same religious code that they themselves follow. What also bothers me is parents who refuse to talk to their children about sex and healthy sexual behaviours, because they have the naïve mindset that their kids will abstain from sex until marriage, just because they told them it’s the only way. Not only is this a disservice to their children, it’s also dangerous, as kids will not know what a healthy sexual relationship looks like, but will rather form their own ideas of what a healthy sexual relationship looks like from unreliable sources, such as pornography or the media. They will also not be properly educated on what constitutes sexual assault, and they won’t be aware about STI’s and how to properly protect oneself from them. It has been almost thirty three years since the first federal funding was put to use in “. . . sex education programs that promote abstinence-only-until-marriage to the exclusion of all other approaches . . .” according to the article “Sex education” (2010) published by “Opposing Viewpoints in Context;” a website that specializes in covering social issues. Since then a muddy controversy has arisen over whether that is the best approach. On one hand is the traditional approach of abstinence (not having sex before marriage), and on the other is the idea that what is being done is not enough, and that there needs to be a more comprehensive approach. This entails not only warning against sex, but also teaching teens about how to have “Safe Sex” (“Sex Education,” 2010).
If a patient is suffering intolerable pain day and night with no way of being cure shouldn’t they be allowed to end their lives by a legal law. Being put through ineffective medical treatments should not be encourage to terminally ill patients persuading them that they will be cure when they will only be prolonging their dying process. A patient who requests to be euthanized from suffering agony should be terminated upon request because it would e inhumane for some one to continue to be in pain. When a patient is at this point in his terminal illness doctors should be allowed to grant their patients whatever they desire to do with their lives. If a patient does not want to go living the suffering lifestyle he is forced to live in to get through a day a doctor can grant the patient their last wish. As human beings we have the right to decide what is best for our own life. If you were in the shoes of a person who is suffering of pain both day and night, would you go along with the therapies’ doctors offer you even though they will not be curing you but stretching your days more of suffering until you finally die. Teens are contracting sexually transmitted diseases and getting pregnant at an alarming rate causing the government, schools, and parents to scratch their heads. A debate has been going on about whether abstinence only education is doing any good for high school students in America.
