In 241 years, 43 president have served and only one man has consecutively been on top of everybody's list. Abraham Lincoln. Abraham Lincoln was born on February 12th of 1809 and he was assassinated by John Wilkes Booth on April 15 1865. He started out as a lawyer then turning into a politician and finally ended up as being the 16th president of the United States. He was the first Republican to win the presidency by having 40% of the popular vote But beating out three other candidates southern Democrat John C. Breckinridge, Union candidate John Bell and Northern Democrat Stephen Douglas.His reelection was a much more successful endeavor since he won by a landslide. One of the most famous speech of all time is the Gettysburg Address. “Four score and seven years ago our fathers brought forth, upon this continent, a new nation, conceived in liberty, and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal.”. The quote shows president Lincoln’s extraordinary leadership and Progressive ideals. The president as a whole is very intellectually educated how to restore faith in the war. The president signed the Homestead Act of 1862 which allowed the poor to obtain considerable easier.“The Homestead Act of 1862 was passed in Lincoln’s presidency. It gave the applicant ownership of land at little or no cost”.This was Lincoln's underrated Accomplishments as president because he helped the lower class of america and ensured that the Minorities have a chance after they hold their freedom. Another one of Lincoln's underrated achievements during his presidency was him laying the stepping stone for Reconstruction. One of the most humbling presidential moments in history is when Lincoln excuse the southerners for their action of seceding the Union. Plenty of people from the Republican Party we're Frustrated with Lincoln because excused the south because he wanted the country to be whole again. Laying the stepping-stones for reconstruction, his powerful speeches and helping the poor through brilliant legislation is why Lincoln is considered the greatest president of all
