I believe the strongest president out of Abraham Lincoln, George Washington, or Thomas Jefferson, was George Washington. This is becase George Washington was strong in both body and mind. He could lead and participte in battle and war. Before Washington was ever president, he was a great political leader. He showed his tremendous leadership skills on the field of battle. He learned the delicet yet rough art of warfare serving honorably in the French and Indian War. His influence and the respect he earned during that conflict won him the title of Commander in Chief of the American Army when the Continental Congress created that role in 1775. Lincoln's term of service from 1860 until his death in 1865 was one of considerable challenge. Hundreds of thousands of individuals died in the war, and the nation was divided both in it's purpose and in it's politics. Lincoln used many strategies to help the very nation survive this war. Washington never tired of providing leadership for two terms as the first American president. It was he who decided not to serve a third term and returned, once again, to private life. His impact on the nation and the world was very profound and very long lasting. This kind of nation-shaping influence is exactly what earned him the title of the "Father of the Nation." On the other hand Thomas Jefferson's service to the New American Union lasted over a good 50 years. He contributed a lot to the core philosophical underpinnings upon which all our democracy is based.
