It’s not everyday one sits down to deeply contemplate one’s feelings behind abortion rights. True, perhaps maybe if one were to deal with an unexpected pregnancy or be assigned a strenuous research paper for an enlightening college class, one might be somewhat educated about the matter. However, abortion rights is considered such a hush-hush topic that many do not even have an opinion about it much less strongly advocate one side of it. Who wants to discuss the fiery issue of abortion over lunch anyway? A sensitive and uncomfortable topic, abortion rights provoke unease similar to the ones subjects such as religion and money do. What many do not realize is that as a woman, it is crucial to have a somewhat vague idea about abortion rights and understand why some activists are so apposed to it. The two strongly opposing sides of abortion rights are pro-choice activists, who advocate the procedure and deem it justifiable and pro-life activists, who oppose the process and label it immoral and killing. A Muslim woman myself, it is decided for me by my religion that abortion is unethical and therefore I am prohibited from ever undergoing the process much less considering it. Nevertheless, as a no-nonsense woman who likes to decide for herself whether she wants to support an operation (in all respect to her religion of course) or not, I believe that although abortion can perceptively be viewed as immoral, it is desperately required in some cases and should thus not be outlawed.
So let’s begin by establishing what an abortion really is. As I have previously mentioned, many of us are ignorant when it comes to what the process actually entails as well as the procedural and psychological sides of the operation. Abortion, as Wikipedia has...

... that legalized abortion is the only possible way to discontinue a lot of the potential distress and trouble an unwanted pregnancy might cause. Opinions on the process chiefly depend on an individual’s beliefs and perspective as well—I cannot force upon my beliefs upon another and I would also expect the same amount of respect from another. Terrified as I am of labeling myself as a pro-life supporter (something about the angry hordes of people demanding why I intentionally want to kill babies petrifies me), there is no denying the fact that I strongly believe in the arguments pro-choice advocates make. One can argue that this is similar to begging for women’s rights—but haven’t we been through this several hundreds of years ago? I say, let us do what we want with our bodies as long as we can sanely decide and otherwise do not butt your nosy faces into our business.
Is abortion right or wrong? I believe that abortion is neither totally right nor wrong. I do believe that teenagers should be able to have abortions without parent’s permission but, the parents should be informed because it’s a medical procedure. Teenagers should be able to have abortions because there only children themselves, they haven’t even grown up so how would they be able to take care of a child? Not only will it be difficult to care for a child, but their choices will be limited when the
world, because of cruel decisions that some mothers make. Most people abuse it too much that it has gotten out of hand, because all they think about is themselves. Abortion should be illegal, people should think about what might happen first than just abusing this and doing it with no regards of human life. Some people believe that abortion is just killing a fetus and say that it’s not really a baby that it is a part of their body, because of this people say that they have the rights to do whatever
Abortion is one of the most debatable subjects in our society. There are many different points of views when it comes to this sensitive topic. Initially when I started researching the topic I was almost certain that I would fall into the category of Pro-life individuals. However, after thinking long and hard and taking rape into consideration I have to say my views have changed completely. Although I am still against abortion, I think there should be certain exceptions made for women who are sexually
pregnant is a serious fear for young women that engage in sexual intercourse. Often times a teen mother’s answer to this situation is abortion or an illegal abortion. Teen abortion can be somewhat difficult to get in many states without having parental consent or notification. These laws make it unsafe for the teen mother and unborn child. Teen abortion should be allowed without having to have parental consent. The mortality rate of
Abortion is one of the most debatable topics today. There are many opinions on abortion. Opponents believe that abortion shouldn’t be allowed, but proponents argue that it should be allowed. The U.S Supreme Court states, “Every person has an inherent and undeniable right over their own bodies, and as such, it is their choice to do with it as they please.” In my opinion I believe that abortion should be allowed in the U.S. I think this because women who get pregnant are less likely to have mental
seeking abortions is not a new topic. This has been going on for hundreds of years, whether it was safe or not. Initially, some feminists thought abortion to be unjust because of the danger it put on a woman’s life. According to Lynne Ford, an author from Encyclopedia of Women and American Politics, feminists from this time like Susan B. Anthony, opposed abortion for the sole reason of it endangering women’s lives. Ford states that in 1821 Connecticut enacted the first laws about abortion. However
The Ethical Issue of Abortion There are many ethical issues that are discussed among society. A major ethical issue in society today is the debate on whether abortion is morally acceptable. Abortion is defined as “the termination of pregnancy before the embryo or fetus is able to live outside the uterus” (Abortion 1). There are two major sides to the debate on abortion. These are pro-life and pro-choice. Pro-life believes that abortion is unethical and is the equivalent of murdering someone. Pro-choice
Laws of abortion have changed over the years. Many people argue about abortion, putting its legal status in a bind. Back in the early days, the 1800’s, the thought of abortion was absurd and it was illegal. People that support abortion are known as “pro-choice”, and believe that women have the right to decide if they want to terminate their pregnancy or not. Americans will have a brighter future if they encourage the legalization of abortion. Legalized abortion appears to be the reason for crime
the struggle for eliminating the shaming of women who’ve received an abortion or use Planned Parenthood services continues and there right to abortion is an argument that persists because of pro life advocates and the socially conservative agenda found in the Republican party. Many republican politicians and conservative religious groups have made it difficult for women to emotionally accept themselves for choosing to have abortions but they make it physically and financially difficult for them to access
The topic of abortion is a highly controversial topic. About half of the population is against abortion. It is said that forty-six percent of people believe that abortion should be legal in most case, while forty-four percent of people say that abortion should almost always be illegal.(Pappas, 2012) This split has slowly been decreasing as there have been laws and religious views that have changed the way people view abortion. While it is seen as morally incorrect to some, many others find it is
you are not mentally, physically, or financially prepared for, but you are told that you are not allowed an opinion that could change the outcome. You are forced to deal with it, ruin your life for the next eighteen years because you made a mistake and you do not have the option of fixing it. During the 1980’s, those against abortion attempted to get a constitution amendment passed that would ban abortions nationally (Newsman). In 1985, John Irving published the novel The Cider House Rules, discussing
Abortion has been accepted by the United States of America ever since the monumental Roe vs. Wade case in the early 1970’s, but is still a very controversial issue. Many people are for and against abortions. Some people say that the child inside its mother’s womb deserves the opportunity to live, while others believe that a mother has the right to choose whether or not her fetus can live or die. Other advocates for abortion claim that abortion helps keep the threat of overpopulation down. They also
Abortion takes thousands of innocent lives a year. This is a major issue that continues to grow, and many people do not realize how severe it is. Abortion is defined as the deliberate termination of a human pregnancy, most often performed during the first 28 weeks of pregnancy. The word “termination” is the action of something coming to an end. Abortion should be illegal because there are alternatives to an abortion, abortion is taking that tiny humans life away from them, and an abortion can leave
Abortion is a very popular trend around the world, it has been going on since the beginning of time. Many people would agree that abortion is very bad and unethical. Nearly 700,000 babies have been killed in the United States since 1973, with the right lies and planning all of those babies could have been saved. Abortion is a negative of society as shown by the torturing of a life, self harm, and the message it sends to others. There is no denying that abortion exist . Approximately 3,700 unborn
