There have been cases of mass murder all throughout history. Many helpless people have been killed because the are not strong enough to stand up for themselves. Mass races have punished for what they believe or what they look like. People have been killed for there gender alone. But the worst mass murder in history is happening throughout all the world today, that is the killing of the unwanted baby. Abortion has it many forms and many ways it is accomplished. However it is done, may be by suction or half-births, it is wrong and a disgraceful thing to do. Women should not have an abortion because it's killing a human being, it has adverse effects upon the mother, and there are alternatives. One of the main statements an people justify an abortion with is that the baby is not a real person, its just a mass of cells. A fetus, small baby in Latin, is a living creature created by God. God tells us in Psalms 139:13, "For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother's womb." This is referring to the fact that we are humans from the point of conception. A very popular Children's book writer summed it up better than I could have. Dr. Seuss said," A person's a person, no matter how small." Not only is a child a human from conception, but it has its own heart beat 18 days after conception. This simple fact makes a child a human. A doctor who is terminating a fetus is also stopping it's heart. Even though an 18 day old fetus may have a working heart, it does not pump its own blood until3 days later. So a 21 day old fetus can use its mother blood and pump it to where ever it needs to go. The worst known fact of an abortion is that a baby eight weeks or older can feel actual pain. Most abortions are done using a suct... ... middle of paper ... ...is is an organization to help you while you make your decision with the child. They will keep the baby from the time it gets out of the hospital til around seven months. They take care of the baby's needs: clothing, food, attention, etc. ; so you can see if what type of adoption is best or if you decide to care for him yourself. The thing they do best is taking care of young children. There are many things you need to consider before you get an abortion. You should think about it being the murder of an unborn child, it can harm you for a long term affect, and there are other alternatives. Abortion is a horrible genocide of the unborn child. It needs to be abolished for good! ...t it is immoral. I also see that it may not be immoral for a woman to abort if she has made the most effort to avoid pregnancy using contraceptives. However, as Thompson states, I think in this situation a mother “ought” not to have an abortion. A fetus should have the right to life, however the mother should also have the right to determine how to use her own body. So I too find it difficult to determine a solid stance on this issue. I’ve always believe that a fetus is a person, but I’ve also always struggled to discern when it is that the fetus becomes a person. Regardless of whatever science can prove or not regarding when a fetus is a person or however much argumentation is done regarding the permissibility of abortion, this topic will forever be surrounded by debate. I don’t believe there will ever a unanimous opinion on whether or not abortion is moral.
According to St. Thomas Aquinas, Catholic priest and philosopher, a fetus is not a human being because it does not possess language or articulated thought - one of the defining aspects of human nature (qtd. in Eco 51). Theoretically speaking, a fetus is not a human until it can think and talk. With that being clarified, the rest of the essay will first include arguments for, and then arguments against, abortion. How would you feel if someone took away your ability to live and have a future? You wouldn't have the opportunity to crawl, take your first step, have your first kiss, or experience those butterflies in your stomach at the sight of first love. Millions of special moments, a life, shredded to pieces. This is essentially what abortion does. Abortion is not the answer in the case of an unplanned pregnancy and needs to be stopped! First of all, abortion is a type of unnecessary murder that occurs in inhumane ways and cannot be tolerated. Moreover, there are alternatives to abortion and many families who are looking to adopt. Lastly, the side effects of abortion can cause life threatening health risks to the mother. Excuses will always be made, but the bottom line is that abortion is not acceptable and should be stopped.
Another issue that arises is the potential personhood of the fetus. Many would argue that its poten...
Many people who don’t know much about abortion don’t know how truly horrifying and serious it is. There are many small details about the baby that could change a woman’s mind in an instant on whether or not they think abortion is the way to go. Women usually don’t realize how it works or what exactly is happening to the baby. They usually think to themselves that it isn’t really a baby or a human form yet, but they are wrong. The baby has already developed fingers, eyelids, a brain, knees, and many other human features by just only seven weeks into the pregnancy (What your baby). Unborn developing babies are much more “human” tha...
Abortion is very cruel to the baby and even harms the mother. It is murder! There are many different procedures for abortions, all gruesome and pain inflicting on the baby. Suction Aspiration (vacuum curettage) makes up for 98% of first trimester abortions. The cervix is first dilated. Then a suction tube with a sharp cutting edge is inserted which rips the baby to pieces. It then sucks out all the remains.
The issue of abortion is a very controversial one. There are many opinions about it that are largely discussed. People have many ideas about abortion that are possible based on their faith and morals. Most women who are pregnant and go in for abortions do not receive all the facts. Their doctors should inform them about the extremely serious side effects that can come from abortion. Abortions cause women physical and mental side effects that can cause them great pain, complications, and even death. What is abortion, though? Abortion is the deliberate termination of a human pregnancy, most often performed during the first 28 weeks of pregnancy. Abortion procedures change according to the stage of the pregnancy. There are four main procedures that women go through when having an abortion. One being, the early medical abortion, which is usually from 0 to 9 weeks; this method is also known as the abortion pill but this is not a very accurate description, as it does not involve simply taking a pill. The next step is, vacuum aspiration abortion, which takes place 5 to 15 weeks. Vacuum aspiration simply means suction. The next method is called early surgical dilatation and evacuation, which is between 15 to 19 weeks. After the woman has been given a light general anesthetic, the doctor gently stretches the passage through the cervix until it is wide enough for narrow forceps to be used to remove most of the contents of the uterus. Then a tube attached to a vacuum pump is used to remove any remaining tissue. The final step is, surgical two-stage abortion or medical induction, which happens between 20 to 24 weeks. During a medical induction, the fetal heart is stopped and then the doctor uses drugs to induce premature labor. A surgical two...
Many human beings consider abortion as something cruel and unnatural for destroying a little living being life. Why you may think? Because that little living being didn’t tell you that they wanted to come into this world. There can be pros and cons about abortion it all depends in the situation that you are in. But, have you ever thought about how dangerous abortion is to the baby and yourself? Have you done research about it? See what clinic is the very best and how much will it cost? Before you think about all these questions ask yourself first. Would I regret this decision later on? Would it be worth it? Would I commit a crime if I decided to abort the child? Give yourself sometime and think about these type of questions and think what is the best for both of you all not just you but the baby or the father. Would you commit to abortion?
The procedure causes health complications for the mother, inflicts pain on a living fetus, and kills the unborn baby. Late-term abortion induces innumerable physical health complications to the patient, including severe infections, extreme bleeding, and damage to the uterus. In addition, one analysis, in relation to abortion problems, states, “from 1988 to 1997 found the risk of death increased by 38% for each additional week of gestation, during the pregnancy.” (Jones).
The argument can be made that the fetus deserves the same level of personhood that children and adults do. This can be countered with the fact that children and adults are able to live without occupying the body of another person. The point at which personhood occurs may never be established because of the contrasting views for and against personhood and it would be very difficult to establish any kind of middle ground on personhood.
In examining religious opinions on abortion, one must find common ground on which to form a foundation of comparison. With most of the religions to date, that common ground lies on the argument of whether or not a fetus is an actual person. Some religions protest by saying a fetus isn't a conscious being -- therefore there is no loss in doing away with it. But for those religions that do believe there is a life -- or any spiritual being -- in a fetus, it is clearly a crime to have an abortion.
There will never be a universal answer to whether a fetus is a person or not. Going by the traits that make a person, a fetus is not considered a person. It is not living, it cannot make rational thought and it cannot communicate with others. Therefore, the decision to have an abortion is permissible and does not infringe on any persons right. A woman has a right to body and has the choice to have an abortion if she feels necessary. The argument to whether abortion is permissible relies on one’s beliefs to what makes a person. If one believes life starts at conception, then they would perceive abortion as being morally wrong. Those that follow specific traits that make a person, find abortion permissible. The issue is determined not by one view, but many. That is why there will never be any one answer to the morality of abortion.
Joseph Farah wrote an article about abortion in The Human Life Review. In this, she quoted Steven Pinker, a professor of psychology at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology saying, " Babies aren't really people, because they don't have an ability to reflect upon (themselves) as a continuous locus of consciousness, to form and savor plans for the future, to dread death and to express the choice not to die. And there's the rub: Our immature neonates don't posess these traits any more than mice do.
No woman should ever feel cornered when it comes to making an abortion decision, but perhaps should look into what the pros and cons may be concerning the after effects of the surgery. When women are on the verge of continuing with an abortion procedure, they usually do not take into consideration many of the possible effects it can have on themselves and others around them. Abortion is considered a difficult procedure that can come with many risks and side effects, whether it be emotional, physical, financial, and or social. The decision of aborting should be thoroughly thought out, rather than made on an impulse. Without proper education and guidance, quick decisions regarding abortion can be hazardous to a person’s health.
