Some of the major long term risks of an abortion for the women receiving it are: Death, different cancers, complications of later pregnancies and labor. Some immediate complications are: infections, excessive bleeding, hemorrhaging, fevers, abdominal pains, and vomiting (“Abortion Risks”) Death being one of the more serious long term complications, “Legal abortion is reported to be the fifth leading cause of maternal death in the United states (“Abortion Risks”). Natural causes, suicide, and homicide have been known as causes of death of women who have gotten an abortion. Depression can be caused by the abortion which can lead to suicide.
