For years it has been a controversy that an abortion should not be legal. Many people feel aborting an unwanted child, or killing an unwanted child should be against the law. A woman's body is her own to do with what ever she wants. With this being said, on the topic of abortions, I agree with it. Furthermore in countries such as Dominican Republic, Colombia, and Egypt abortion is illegal.
Although, nearly all women who forego the procedure of an abortion were already on a form of contraception drug, so the baby is clearly unwanted. Adoption isn’t the same as an abortion, because it should be the woman’s choice on if she wants to put her body through the stresses of a pregnancy. Also, many women who have their babies don’t just give them up for adoption, and in both cases, the child is bound to feel unwanted at some point.
That is why I believe that abortions before sixteen weeks are justifiable. I do not believe anyone just gets pregnant to have an abortion. The whole situation is both physically and psychologically painful for the woman. There are many factors to consider in choosing whether or not to carry a child to birth or abort, but these factors are very personal and can only be answered by the woman who has been confronted with the fact that she is pregnant.
The majority of teens tell their parents about their pregnancy, but there is a smaller group of teens who do not have that kind of support in their home (Page). Teens are prevented from having abortions because of parental consent laws since they are in fear of their parents' reactions ("Young). Parental abuse is an issue when it comes to teens getting parental consent, some par... ... middle of paper ... ...ir parents; How can we force them to get consent? Parental consent laws are not helping young women or her relationship with her family. Due to abusive homes, older 17-year-olds are willing to wait and not get parental consent until their 18th birthday when they don’t have to get any kind of consent form in order to obtain an abortion.
Because of anti-abortion legislation women avoid going to the hospital, often until it is too late, to avoid prosecution from police. In the cases of rape and incest the very idea of being forced to have the child of the woman's abuser is repulsive. There are also cases when a woman's health is put in jeopardy by having a child at all, forcing such a woman to bring a child to term, would be no less than attempted murder. If a woman is forced to give birth to a child she does not want, if left in that woman's custody, the child could potentially face hatred and resentment from the mother for the rest of it's life. In countries all over the world, children are found dead and abandoned in places as degrading as garbage dumps.
(Planned) Many are also frightened of what might be said and done to them. "There is evidence that teenagers who do not involve their parents believe, that involving their parents would not be in their best interests or are trying to protect their parents." (Planned) A strong majority of the teens having abortions already involve parents even if not required to do so by law. (Planned) Allowing teenage girls to have abortions is allowing them to go on with their lives. To pursue the many hopes and dreams of their childhood.
Well, babies do not have the ability to choose while they are in their mother’s womb. If a woman decides to abort her baby, the baby cannot do anything about their life being taken away. Their whole future is demolished and no one would ever know what have become of that child. I believe abortion is a wrong and selfish decision for the mother to make. The word abortion has become very common around the world, whether illegal or legal, it is not right.
Of course, they already do now, but I believe that abortion should only be available to girls 14 to 17 years of age. A 14 year olds brain is not fully developed and they believe that having a baby will make them seem more independent or that having a baby will make the person they engage in sexually with want to be with them forever. Of course it is not always the case. There are girls who engage in sex and the last thing they want is to... ... middle of paper ... ...s she pleases. From the time they are born to the time they die, a woman will never truly be able to do what she wants to do with her body because of social critique, pear pressure or laws that out ban what they can do.
All such restrictions to a woman's access to safe and legal abortion rob her of her ability to take control of her life. Fact: Laws restricting teen access to abortion. Laws in 46 states and the District of Columbia allow mothers who are under 18 to place their children for adoption without involving their parents, but many of those same states require parental notification or consent before these young women can obtain abortions. This sets up a standard that clearly favors one resolution over another, restricts the reproductive choices of young women, and forces some to bear children that they do not want to bear.
How can anyone tell a woman that they can’t abort an embryo/fetus to interrupt a pregnancy if it is a result of rape or incest? A women cannot bear the thought of having a child that would be a constant reminder of what happened on such and such a day, such and such number of years ago. The mother doesn’t want to kill a baby; she wants to interrupt the growth of an embryo so that it will not become a baby. The mother interrupts potential life. If the mother aborts the embryo at a very early stage it’s not even recognizable as human and that’s why potential life is just that, potential.
