Abortion is the failure of something to reach maturity. In the medical world the word abortion is the termination of pregnancy. Failure to reach full maturity can be spontaneous, miscarriage or it can be a deliberate termination. Abortion is a deliberate termination. There are two forms used for an abortion either medical or surgical. The three different forms of abortion are therapeutic abortions that are performed usually in the second trimester to preserve the health or life of the pregnant women, or when the fetus is determined to be nonviable or have significant defects. The Late-Term Abortion or the “partial-birth abortion” is the removal of the fetus, usually between the twentieth and twenty-seventh week of gestation. Elective Termination …show more content…

The first trimester is methotrexate and misoprostol, mifepristone and misoprostol, manual vacuum aspiration and aspiration ("Abortion Procedures During First, Second and Third Trimester"). Methotrexate and Misoprostol is a medical abortion procedure is in the first seven weeks of pregnancy ("Abortion Procedures During First, Second and Third Trimester"). Mifepristone and Misoprostol is a medical abortion procedure used in the first seven to nine weeks of pregnancy ("Abortion Procedures During First, Second and Third Trimester"). The Manuel Vacuum Aspiration is a procedure done as early as 3-12 weeks since the last period ("Abortion Procedures During First, Second and Third Trimester"). Aspiration is a surgical abortion used to terminate pregnancy up to 16 weeks from the last period ("Abortion Procedures During First, Second and Third Trimester"). The procedures done during the second trimester is dilation and curettage, dilation and evacuation and induction abortion ("Abortion Procedures During First, Second and Third Trimester"). Dilation and Curettage is a surgical procedure used to terminate a pregnancy up to 16 weeks gestation ("Abortion Procedures During First, Second and Third Trimester"). Dilation and Evacuation is a surgical abortion that is used to terminate a pregnancy after 16 weeks of gestation ("Abortion Procedures During First, Second and Third Trimester"). Induction Abortion is a surgical procedure where they use salt water, urea or potassium chloride and inject it into the amniotic sac ("Abortion Procedures During First, Second and Third Trimester").
