The capitalist sits smiling pleased his corporation is making a profit, without thinking of the consequences his firm causes around the world. Money cause corruption at every institution and greed torment man soul. Despite the fact four thousand years ago, money was invented for object or record that generally accepted as payment for goods and services. (“Money Matters”) Before money, people obtain goods by trading other items or services for them. This was difficult, especially for large businesses. Money - and later banking and credit - made trade more efficient and permitted business activity but now money is the source of corruption and greed around the world. Civilization once valued human beings with moral and ethical behavior but, in this advance age, the value has been corrupted into greed. The world is based on “a [global] monetary-based system, [where] the major concerns of the industry is profit, maintaining a competitive edge, and watching the [outcome], rather than the wellbeing of humanity” (Fresco). Corporation’s objective is to increase the profit for their shareholders. In this pursuit of profit, the more astounding example of illegal behavior is the scandals involving investment broker Bernie Madoff, and companies like Enron and Halliburton have entered the language as shorthand for corrupt behavior. In June 2009, during a senate hearing, Former Cigna senior executive Wendell Potter testified “[that his company] had to meet Wall Street’s relentless profit expectations” ("Government Intervention Caused the Global Financial Crisis"). So the health insurance reducing fatally ill policyholders due to their minuscule and often nonexistent profit margin. These acts that this corporation committed have betrayed an... ... middle of paper ... ...ne another. In this world the earth can provide for everyone. The way of life can be free, but people have lost the way. Greed has poisoned men's souls, caused the world to hate, and has led us into despair and violence. People have developed skill but we have closed ourselves in: possessions that gives wealth has left us in want. Our knowledge has made us skeptical, our cleverness unkind and resilient. We assume too much and feel too little. More than machinery, people need humanity. More than cleverness, people need kindness. The lack of these attributes has made life vicious. The webs of communication have brought us closer together yet farther apart. The very nature of these inventions cries out for the integrity in people, cries out for harmony round the world. Let us survive in a world of reason, a world where science and growth will lead to people happiness.
