Samson was a Nazirite that was given to his parents by God to save the Israelites from the Philistines. Samson was known for his incredible strength. There were many rules that Samson was supposed to follow in his life that he broke. Samson suffered the consequences of breaking the rules and losing faith in God. He lost track of his purpose given to him by God.
In the story of Samson and Delilah, Samson fell off track and fell in love with Delilah. Delilah did not love Samson and was just using him to get silver from the Philistines. The Philistines offered Delilah silver if she could find out the secret behind Samson’s strength. “See if you can lure him into showing you the secret of his great strength and how we can overpower him so we may tie him up and subdue him. Each one of us will give you eleven hundred shekels of silver” (Judges 16:5). …show more content…

Her first few tries failed because Samson lied to her about what his weakness was. She then gave her best performance and pretended to be very hurt that Samson was not telling her his secret. Samson finally gave into his temptation and told Delilah his secret. He told her that he was a Nazirite and if his hair was cut off that he would lose his strength. Samson said to Delilah, “No razor has ever been used on my head,’ he said, ‘because I have been a Nazirite dedicated to God from my mother’s womb. If my head were shaved, my strength would leave me, and I would become as weak as any other man’” (Judges 16:16–17). Delilah cut off Samson’s hair when he was sleeping.
