AT&T’S Corporate Social Responsibility Views In the corporate world, it is important for businesses to be aware of human rights issues and ethics in regards to making the best choices for others and the community. It has been stated how corporate social responsibility “expresses an understanding that the business is responsible for all relevant institutions and stakeholders” (Cayiragasi, Guven & Ozpolat, 2016, p. 207). That being noted, my current occupation at AT&T has demonstrated several manners in which Corporate Social Responsibility has affected the community and environment. This charity was established in 1998 and it offers aid when there are floods and earthquakes. AT&T began supporting TSF in 2002, and that time they donated more than $800,000 to the charity and have continued ever since. AT&T helps this organization set up crisis response teams around the world, by providing support to more than 60 countries to combat emergency situations (Awards, 2016). AT&T also provides support for Project HOPE. Project HOPE is another disaster relief project that AT&T partners with, in an effort to supply help to those in need in a time of crisis. According to Awards (2016), AT&T and Project HOPE have created an innovative way to provide care with a device known as the INSPIRE pediatric device that helps workers to quickly diagnose and treat early symptoms of pneumonia, Since pneumonia is to blame for a vast majority of deaths in Africa, AT&T and Project HOPE sends workers to help prevent and treat the illness in an effort to give back to the community. In addition, AT&T has donated more than 75,000 dollars and has supported Project Hope for more than 30 years, and will continue according to Awards (2016). AT&T also supports the Meal Exchange program, which is a Canadian-based youth drive charity. The main objective of this charity is to educate and organize food drives to serve the community and people who do not have the have money to feed themselves or their families. The organization was founded in 1993 by a student who raised more than 3 million dollars for people in need, and AT&T has worked with the Meal Exchange program ever since 2009 (Awards, 2016). AT&T also created what is known as the It Can Wait campaign in 2010, and its purpose is to educate and prevent individuals from texting while driving.
