The production team is proud to report that we have finally reached they end of the Junior Achievement year. This year has been full of trials and tribulations, ups and downs, and filled with many success and failures. From our first meeting on September 18 to our last official meeting on the 28th of April many of our goals has been surpassed with the visions of targeting higher achievements.
Each quarter of the 2001 2002 junior achievement year had new obstacles for us to overcome. From the rush into our first quarter to the unexpected conclusion of the fourth quarter we never anticipated that the year would of gone by so fast.
For the first quarter of our Junior Achievement year JA was a new experience to nearly all of the students. It was in our first quarter that the production team was appointed, so we began without any delay brainstorming for goods or services that we could produce. After a lot of our various judgement on different items we finally came up with scented and multi-color gel pens. We later considered into making personalized business cards for high school students which turned out to become a greater success then planned. With the dramatic affect that our products had over the market our sales targeted number one on the list and we decided right then and there that we were not going to let anybody overtake us.
When the second quarter began on November 6th the production team really turned into a disaster. Our Vice President at that time started to feel a bit stressed out over the junior achievement program and got fed up to a point in which she decided to resign. That left s to replace her and make sure that Full Hundred got back up again and everything ran smoothly.
With the new production team now elected we tried our best to come up with new products for our second quarter so that our sales would remain on top and no other company would surpass us. With Christmas being right around the corner we decided to use that as our main market and sell mainly Christmas items.
Each year there are about 250 people added to death row and 35 executed. From 1976 to 1995 there were a total of 314 people put to death in the US 179 of them were put to death using lethal injection, 123 were put to death using electrocution, 9 were put to death in a gas chamber, 2 were hanged, and 1 was put to death using the firing squad. The death penalty is the harshest form of punishment enforced in the United Sates today. Once a jury has convicted a criminal, they go to the second part of the trial, the punishment phase. If the jury recommends the death penalty and the judge agrees then the criminal will face some form of execution, lethal injection is the most common form used today. There was a period from 1972 to 1976 that capital punishment was ruled unconstitutional by the Supreme Court. Their reason for this decision was that the death penalty was "cruel and unusual punishment" under the Eighth Amendment. The decision was reversed when new methods of execution were introduced. Capital punishment is a difficult issue and there are as many different opinions as there are people. In our project, both sides have been presented and argued fully.
The book begins by sharing a tradition at Frank K. Ballou High School, the annual academic awards ceremony. The school hosts these ceremonies in hopes
Specifically, six themes regarding ethical leadership emerged from the study. Survey respondents from all societies prioritized these six traits as necessary for ethical leadership. First, ethical leaders are accountable. They abide by rules and regulations and take personal responsibility while holding others accountable. Second, ethical leaders have consideration and respect for others. They are approachable, treat others with respect, and demonstrate empathy. Third, ethical leaders are fair. They make objective decisions and do not show favoritism. Fourth, ethical leaders have a strong character. They are sincere and they lead by example, demonstrating integrity and courage. Fifth, ethical leaders have a collective orientation. They promote teamwork and collaboration while protecting the interests of the company. Finally, ethical leaders are open and flexible. They share information, communicate effectively, and are open to diversity (Resick et al, 2011). Though cultural dimensions affect leadership practices and expectations, these attributes and behaviors emerged consistently as the requisite traits for ethical
Although he still has considerable work ahead of him, Eyler's efforts appear to be paying off. Total sales were up two percent for both the second quarter and the first six months of 2002, compared to the previous year, and results for the entire year should likewise prove relatively strong. The company credits "careful attention to inventory management combined with very strong expense controls" for the positive numbers. Customers, however, are impressed with the improved service, remodeled stores, and price cuts on hundreds of toys.
Another accomplishment that stood out to me was the founding and development of my Berks County Chemistry Outreach Club. Recruiting and managing my club members during freshman year was especially challenging. I remember struggling to create short and simple lesson plans, while keeping the students engaged and active. I recall students having difficulties with the concepts and theories. To help them review the material, I posted the meeting summaries on my website. Because of the lessons learned in previous years, my fourth year now runs smoothly and
Child abuse in the United States is a growing epidemic. Every year the number of reported cases, and missing children go up. This is caused mostly by lack of education about the different types of child abuse, and the signs that go along with it. Communities need to provide more resources to better educate the public about the types of abuse, and the signs that go along with it. Child abuse and neglect can be lessened by more resources, more education and to reach out to others.
...ents in their academic accomplishments. Recognizing successes of students and teachers and celebrating the positives brings back school pride and willingness to make a difference (Shore, 1996).
Junior Achievement was founded in 1919 by Horace A. Moses, Theodore Vail and Winthrop M. Crane. Junior Achievement (JA) of Utah was established in 1956. It is the largest organization dedicated to giving young people knowledge to plan for the future, make smart academic and economic choices and skills they need for their own success. JA is a program that helps prepare young people for the real world. JA shows students how to be “work ready” with hands on projects. It helps students see the connection between what they learn in school and the working world and the value of staying in school. It teaches financial literacy and about entrepreneurship. The projects show students how to manage, create jobs, understand their communities, earn money and how to think in the work place, how to make goals and reach goals. JA teaches students the whys, hows and wows of opportunities in the world. JA works with local businesses and organizations and community volunteers give hands-on experience to students.
Since the 1970s, studies on the effect of same-sex parenting on children have been conducted in the United States. Sociological debates have occurred from the idea of allowing same-sex couples to parent. Some groups feel that allowing this would undermine the traditional ideology of marriage and skew the perception of gender roles for their children. Sociologists continue to produce empirical research that studies samples of the approximately 125,000 same-sex couples raising nearly 220,000 children and comparing their roles as parents and the adult personalities of their children to children raised by heterosexual couples. Current scientific research comparing the outcomes of children raised by gay or lesbian parents with children of heterosexual parents consistently shows that same-sex parents are just as capable of raising “psychologically healthy and well-adjusted” children as heterosexual parents. Research comparing children raised by same-sex couples and heterosexual couples found no differences in the adjustment or mental health of these children as adults.
Great effort has been made in our criminal justice system in pretrial, trial, appeals, writ and clemency procedures to minimize the chance of and innocent person being convicted and sentenced to death. Since 1973, legal protections have been so great that 37 percent of all death row cases have been overturned for due process reasons or commuted. Inmates are six times more likely to get off death row by appeals than by execution.
The prices of their products are at times considered high by some customers. This is an area that the company should focus on. The fact that the market is seasonal has also affected the performance of the company and they should, therefore, make plan to ensure that the demand of their products remains high throughout the year.

For the past 13 years of our education we have been on a journey - a journey full of experiences, challenges and accomplishments. We have made it through elementary, middle and high school. It hasn't always been what we expected and certainly not easy, but as we progressed down the road, we stretched ourselves to reach across barriers and found ourselves in new and expanding roles. We were given the opportunity to explore our interests and discover what really excites us. We have become more independent and complete individuals. Our growth and self-discovery has placed us here tonight.
Ethics is the heart of leadership, the power that comes with being a leader can be used for good as well as evil. Ethics is the internal intangible that drives us, it is the value system or lack of thereof, that guides us when we make decisions in our day to day actions (Bucaro). Ethics is about your individual values, you either have ethics or you don’t. To be ethical is to focus on values, character, principles, etc.; these are the personality traits that will give you the groundwork to make tough
“The future stretches before me, waiting for me to create the work of art that will become my life.” We have entered an age for celebration, an era to memorialize who we were, who we are and who we will eventually become. Celebrate this milestone greater than all the others, for it is the time we have spent here in our high school careers that will always be held close to heart.
