Unwilling to submit to Dr. Flint's abuse, but equally unwilling to abandon her family, she hides in the attic crawl space in the house of her grandmother, Aunt Martha. She hopes that Dr. Flint, under the false impression that she has gone North, will sell her children rather than risk having them disappear as well. Linda is overjoyed when Dr. Flint sells Benny and Ellen to a slave trader who is secretly representing Mr. Sands.
Tragedy, however, almost strikes as the narrator takes this break from reality. As the family reaches Miles City, Montana, the two young children become captivated by the thought of swimming in a refreshing pool. No adults are aloud into the pool area during the lunch break, but the children are still able to take a swim with the lifeguard present. As the narrator steps out of sight, the youngest girl’s curiosity captures her, and she almost drowns in the pool. Meg had nearly submerged before the mother had a vague premonition that something on this afternoon is very wrong. Running toward the pool, the girl’s parents reach her in time, but this incident seeps much deeper as the mother gains wisdom and identity from the experience.

A Wrinkle In Time is an example of great American literature. It is a plot-based novel with something always happening while an obstacle is standing in the way. Most of the conflict occurring in this book is person versus self and person versus supernatural. A certain aspect that is very prevalent in this book is love. This love takes the characters on the trip of a lifetime, for the sole purpose of finding her father. This love in the background is not known by the reader until the last few pages, and ends up encompassing and explaining the whole novel.

When Mrs.Whatsit arrives at the Murry’s home, everybody has a different feeling of it. It’s as if the mood/tone at that time was awkward. Charles Wallace knew Mrs.Whatsit giving a shock to Meg and Mother, as they did not he befriended a tramp. Meg feels rather irate at Mrs.Whatsit for invading their home and knowing Charles Wallace. Meg irritated said in her mind “this old woman comes barging in on us in the middle of the night”, and “she’s certainly no one Charles Wallace ought to be friends with”. Mrs.Whatsit’s actions only added to the awkwardness of the situation. When her boots come splurging out with water and she’s falls out of her chair, startling the children. The mood turns very suspicious as soon as Mrs. Whatsit stated, “There is a thing called a tesseract”. Mother turns white and the children are anxious to know what it means. When Madeleine L’Engle closes this tangled chapter, the mood is mysterious and curious about the
A wrinkle in time is a novel by Madeleine L’Engle. It is a very fun and thrilling novel set in the entire universe. The story happens in only one autumn day. This is because of time manipulation. You know this because in the novel the main character gets worried that her mom and her brothers will try to find them,
The mystery that is time comes from the common-sense idea that the present moment, known as “now” is not fixed, but rather it is always moving forward into the “future”. This concept is known as the flow of time. As humans, we describe the present as a single moment which allows time to appear to “flow”, essentially sweeping moments from the past to future. However, at the same time humans also want time to be a sequence of moments, with all motion and change consisting of the differences between versions of an entity at different moments. What this means is that a particular moment cannot become the present or cease to be the present. The present is not objectively a single moment. Humans think we need these two definitions of time. When we describe events we say things like “when” which implies that time is not flowing, but then when we say “why” it implies that time is flowing.
