Driving fast in the car I built is my favorite thing to do and it had got me in plenty of trouble but I felt as the rush was worth it. It was a few summers ago and I had just got my turbo put in, I was on the highway on my way to the local car meet and I decide to take off, I get my car up to 100 mph then slow down, but then I want to time it this time so I get my phone out to use my timer and take off again but this time I reach up to 128 mph and I stretch it all the way to the capital blvd exit. Right as I thought... ... middle of paper ... ...ea but I would be one of the people that don’t get away. As soon as my I get my car to slow down so I can turn back, there are 3 cops coming towards my car and realized I couldn’t go anywhere. The officers cars come to a halt and one of the officers tell me to throw my keys out the window and I was taken downtown for the night and was explained to, that my car will be seized by the department and will be crushed due to the illegal street modifications and I will have to attend the day they crush my car as punishment, including the several tickets I received.

As the car pulls out of the pit lanes it does a burn out as the driver accelerates to fast, leaving tire marks and the smell of burning rubber behind. To the naked eye tuning and servicing a car in a flat 14 seconds might seem like complete mayhem, but to the pit crew its their natural routine. But it hasn’t always been that way, because of the intense pace and strength needed in a pit stop, Each team member is required to go to Crew school, which is a school made for people and mechanics who want to be in the pit crew of NASCAR specifically. Asking Paul how the U.S. border Patrol pit crew does it he responds “its just one big choreography, like dancing each person knows were the other is at all times, the only difference is we are doing it on a car with a jack, air guns, and tires.”
The excitements of watching your favorite driver lead the race, hoping your driver can maintain the lead after twenty some cars come in to the pit for four tires and a tank of gas. Watch a pit crew change four tires and fuel up a car under twenty seconds. The excitement of auto racing is immeasurable. The entertainment of the sport is like no other. Auto Racing does have a violent side to it.
If the car still requires eyes on the road is it really worth it to rely your life to a car with computer programming or is it better being in full control of the cars actions. Many of Jim Wangers personal experiences were very fascinating and made the book very tough to put down. One of his most appealing experiences was when he personally became a Pontiac sponsored race driver. Wangers told the story of how he won the 1960 NHRA Championship and how he narrowly lost by only tenths of a second in the final race. He explained through vivid details on how he raced to sell the cars he was promoting through his advertising. He coined the phrase, “Win on Sunday, Sell on Monday”.
Out of these many ways to combat street racing are two ways to help stop this problem. One of these ways is the sectioning of new drag strips, and racing events that are taken off the road and into areas that can become controlled environments. The other way is to implement stricter enforcement and more severe punishments for those caught street racing. Street racing can be controlled if done correctly. Opening racetracks and getting existing tracks to stay open longer and later for the people that normally race illegally is a step in the right direction.
To aid the driver, a co-driver rides shotgun, giving out commands that let the driver know what lies ahead. The cars are timed against each other, but not run along side each other. Many of the courses are only wide enough for a single car to pass through at a time. Thus, the cars are sent out in intervals, and the resulting times measured against each other after completion. All these companies except Google and now Tesla are working on cars that are not completely autonomous. It’s more of a car that assists the driver in every way, making the trip both more protected and uncomplicated. The driver would still have to be watchful at all times ready to take over if the car confronts an uncontrollable problem. If a car should encounter such a problem it will recognize and alert the driver ahead of time, the designers of this technology have predicted it would take ten seconds for the vehicle to let the driver know and for them to take over driving (Ford 185). Many can see a problem with having to be ready at a moment’s notice, when you’re not driving you’re not fully alert of what’s going on around you.
The fact that driverless car sensors can detect the errors of other human driven car is extraordinary. Human driven cars are trying to stick to the status quo of the roads when in reality human driven cars are breaking valuable innovation that will make the roads safe for generations to
