A True Canadian Citizen
Canada covers a huge piece of land, spanning from the Atlantic Ocean
to the Pacific Ocean, and from the United States border all the way up
to the North Pole. The ten provinces and three territories represent a
wide variety of landscapes. From soaring mountains to dimpled plains,
lush forests to breezy grasslands, rushing waterfalls to rippling
lakes, its topical geography is an important part of our country's
identity. Canada's people come from many different backgrounds, and
make the country a multicultural rapture, attracting many tourists and
immigrants each year. But what makes a person worthy of living in such
a beautiful and diverse community? They must be a Canadian citizen.
Canada is a truly great country, and so they must strive to be a truly
great citizen, to meet and to exceed all the requirements of
citizenship. A person can do this by being an informed, active and
global citizen.
To be an informed citizen is to know the rights, responsibilities and
limitations of all Canadians. This means knowing the six sections in
the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms. Fundamental Freedoms,
Mobility Rights, Legal Rights, Equality Rights, Official Languages of
Canada, and Minority Language Educational Rights should all have a
permanent place in the citizen's mind. The informed citizen should
also have some knowledge of Canada's history; how it became the
country it is today. They should know about confederation, Canada's
contributions to various wars, and dynamic individuals who played
important roles in shaping the country. They should be familiar with
the country's government. The citizen should k...

further problems in developing or war torn countries. They can do this
in several ways including sending money to organizations which have
stations in the countries and writing letters to politicians urging
them to become involved in the global issues. It is clear that being a
global citizen is important to make up a good Canadian citizen.
"I affirm that I will be faithful and bear true allegiance to Her
Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, Queen of Canada, Her Heirs and Successors,
and that I will faithfully observe the laws of Canada and fulfill my
duties as a Canadian citizen." This is the Canadian Oath of
Citizenship, a pledge that all Canadians should try to meet. It's only
fair that because our country offers us so much, that we try to
satisfy its requirements by being an informed, active and global
citizen.
... nation. In addition to, supporting their allies, this shows how Canada is committed to maintain good alliances with their allies. They also joined a peacekeeping military defense with United States in order to gain trust from United States and become a peacekeeping military defense Canada is recognized today.
Pierre Trudeau is the greatest Canadian of the twentieth century due to the fact that he declared Canada’s independence from Great Britain, he abolished the death penalty, and he created the Official Languages Act, making our nation entirely bilingual.
As the old saying goes, “History has a way of repeating itself.” This is demonstrated in many of the world’s events. With deeper insight into past conflicts, there is usually a repeating theme present. In the Cellist of Sarajevo the reader is introduced to four major characters and is taken through the minds of these characters to see the ever lasting effects that war has on peoples mental and physical states. We will also be comparing this novel to the essay righting of What Canada Means to me written by Elijah Harper. This essay takes its reader through the eyes of a Native American who was forcibly taken away from his family and forced to go to Canadian schools and leave behind his culture behind. The reader can easily identify the elements

There are many differences with Canada’s neighbour, the United States of America; some in which can be dated back to our ties with our English heritage. Canada is known as a constitutional monarchy; meaning that although they are independent from
The Prime Minister of Canada is given much power and much responsibility. This could potentially create a dangerous situation if the government held a majority and was able to pass any legislation, luckily this is not the case. This paper will argue that there are many limitations, which the power of the prime minister is subject too. Three of the main limitations, which the Prime Minister is affected by, are; first, federalism, second the governor general and third, the charter of rights and freedoms. I will support this argument by analyzing two different types of federalism and how they impact the power of the Prime Minister. Next I will look at three of the Governor Generals Powers and further analyze one of them. Last I will look at the impact of the charter from the larger participation the public can have in government, and how it increased the power of the courts.
Many people across the globe argue that nationalism within Canada is simply not feasible. It is said that we as a people, differ so greatly with our diverse cultures, religions, and backgrounds that we cannot come together and exist together as a strong, united nation. In his book, Lament for a Nation, George Grant tells the reader that “…as Canadians we attempted a ridiculous task in trying to build a conservative nation in the age of progress, on a continent we share with the most dynamic nation on earth. The current history is against us.” (1965) Originally directed towards the Bomarc Missile Crisis, the book argues that whatever nationalism Canada had was destroyed by globalization as well as the powerful American sphere of influence. Although it is true that the book was initially written as a response to the events that took place in the late 1950s, many of the points are still valid today.
Heroism demands self-sacrifice, self-discipline, self-confidence and self-respect. Ulysses S. Grant had these qualities in their most complete form. He set out from humble beginnings, and failed. At the age of 38 was a conspicuous failure. Then, like few of us, he succeeded beyond belief. Had he not had tremendous greatness within him, he could never have accomplished what he did. How did such a simple, honest and humble man raise himself in the eyes of his people and the world to the highest position a man or woman can reach - that of a national hero?

The Prime Minister of Canada has an integral role within the Canadian parliament. In the political Parliamentary system of Canada, the Prime Minister wields the executive responsibility. He is accountable for an assortment of administrative, managerial, and supervisory decisions in effect across the country. The executive role is the branch of government that is generally responsible for creating laws, and enforcing the regulations to ensure these laws are observed.
What does it mean to be a Canadian? What are the common values shared by the Canadian citizens? Denise Chong, who was an economic advisor to the Canadian Prime Minister, delivered the speech “Being Canadian” during the Canadian citizenship week, 1995. She explains in this speech the importance of Canadian citizenship, the values shared by the Canadians and how to strengthen the Canadian values.
Canada has become a superior nation thru, perseverance, courage and even care as they persevered thru many dark battles, and made sure they all came thru together as a unit other than individuals. Their courage made there fighting 100% stronger as they wouldn’t back down to any task and they weren’t afraid to lose their life to help a fellow friend and country out. Care played a major aspect in each Canadian heart. There cared about Britain so they weren’t to go help them when they declared war, they helped other troops with their emotional problems and lastly they even cared a little about there enemies as they are the same person, however the only thing separating them is there culture. Canadians contributed in many ways to help our country's great efforts in the First World War.
Canada is a great place to live, because it is very diverse. country. The sand is a sand. It is multicultural, it’s considered a Melting Pot. Many people from many nations come together to make this country special and unique to us.
