The Road To A Tennis Coach The career that I have chosen to pursue is a tennis coach. I decided to become a tennis coach because I have been playing tennis for 12 years and I wanted to a pursue a job that involves tennis. Tennis coach in particular stand out the most from the other jobs in this field because as a tennis coach, you guide/ mentor a student to become a better player. I get a feeling of satisfaction when someone that I have helped achieve their goals. A tennis coach is someone that teaches people how to play tennis at a high level. Despite depending on the weather to be able to work, tennis coach have very flexible hours especially as a head coach or director. There are not a lot of requirements to become a tennis coach. For education, there is no requirements but having a bachelor degree wouldn’t hurt. According to an article on how to become a tennis coach the requirements are “ experience playing tennis, tennis knowledge, strong communication skills, and be able assess a player’s game” (How to Become a Tennis Instructor). Even though there is no official educational requirements for being a tennis coach, I am pursuing a bachelor degree in business. Having a business degree would help a lot because in order to expand an academy, the coaches need to advertise their academy to get more kids to join. Another benefit that a tennis coach has besides having little requirement is the payout. In a survey done by PayScale, the average salary range for a tennis coach excluding privates is from $26,000 to $90,000 (Tennis Coach Salary). The salary is based on experience and the amount of students a coach teaches privately. This range is a rough estimate that matches what my coaches have said in their interviews. Coaching is an integral part of helping achieve one’s maximum abilities. Dr. Gawande (2013) explains that, “Coaches are not teachers, but they teach. They’re not your boss—in professional tennis, golf, and skating, the athlete hires and fires the coach—but they can be bossy” (p. 3). It is difficult to say what is the exact function of a coach, however, they help bring forth another point of view different from our own and they also help bring about the right mindset in order to subdue a weakness.
There are five main goals or objectives for the USTA organization to become better. The first goal is to increase participation in tennis so as to achieve the Vision. Increase USTA membership, make multicultural participation, and develop tennis programs accesible at all levels. The second goal is to build upon success at the US Open. Use the US Open as a promotional tool for the sport and help Americans reach the highest level of professional tennis. The third goal is to market tennis to the playing and non-tennis playing public. Enhance public awarness and perception of tennis and the image of the USTA. Provide educational materials and technical resources, and other tennis information to the tennis community.

The career I chose is an Athletic Trainer. “Athletic Trainers are highly qualified, multi skilled healthcare professionals,” (“Athletic Training”). They are also known as a person who is certified in the field of sports medicine. I chose athletic training because it is more than taping ankles and stretching muscles to me. It is my two passions combined into one job. Athletic trainers help people grow on and off the field. I must understand what type of schooling and skills will be required, the income and future of this career, along with the experience and attitude I will need to succeed in this field.
Tennis is a sport that most people don’t normally think about on a daily basis. Tennis is a sport that many people love to play. It is not the hardest sport in the world to learn. When playing against someone, it is called a match. Tennis can be played one on one or a doubles match. The main object of the game is to hit the ball over the net, inside of the lines so that the opponent can't get to it. There are two lines about two feet parallel to each other that outline the court. In a singles match, the inner line is the out of bound line, while the outer line is out of bounds in a doubles match.
