How different are families compared to the past? Lately there has been some major changes in relationships, weather female dominance, or even just having no relationships at all. We also see that relationships are based only on a basis of reproduction and sometimes the child of the relationship is rather irrelevant. In a Temporary matter by Jhumpa Lahiri, the reader can see how relationships have developed with the rest of the world into failing, no relationship, and feminist relationships.
A Temporary Matter by Jhumpa Lahiri is a short story explaining how these short relationships can fall apart so quick. The couple, Shukumar and Shoba have a very complicated relationship. Shukumar works at home on his dissertation while Shoba works gets up every morning and goes to work. Previously the couple lost a child right after it was born, which hurt the couple. After this event this couple hardly talked, became experts on avoiding each other, and grew distant. They then have a problem that ends up making them have to talk to each other more then they did. They are reminded about how they used to be and start to grow closer, revealing things about themselves. But then it all ends with Shoba telling her husband that she found an apartment. This stops the couple from getting closer. Shukumar then reveals his secret about the baby and removes a mystery that Shoba wanted to keep a mystery. This story ends with the couple crying in the dark but the reader can infer that the couple breaks up after this story.
In this story the reader can see how relationships have evolved into being female dominated. We see this in how Shoba is the one that is going to work, not Shukumar. While he does work he is working at him, and is working on school. He...

The reader can interpret this as the couple got together to reproduce and when that failed they had nothing left. Considering how recent this was it is surprising that the couple is already over the death of the child. The couple is not completely over the death of the child, but they aren’t still grieving and only are upset when it is brought up.
This story is a great representation of how relationships have changed over the years. Weather its the female dominance or the relationships are given up. Shoba and Shukumar are great examples of this phenomenon. This couple can be related to a typical American relationship. Jhumpa Lahiri does a good job of detailing this failure of a relationship and explains how this couple breaks apart.
Confessions of an Erstwhile Child is an essay which analyses the concept of the nuclear family. At first the author explains the ideas of Thomas More’s Utopia, but afterwards narrows his content by going into explaining his thoughts on children raised in dysfunctional families. He very cleverly shows the reader part family model’s with current ones, allowing his audience to make the decision for themselves. His tone is a logical philosophical. The reader is told of his depressing childhood growing up in a dysfunctional family, and how it had a profound effect upon his life. The author uses his own personal experience and knowledge to express his opinions on his topic, but really doesn’t use much inference to other cases or factual evidence to back up his argument. All and all, the author wrote an essay which would prove to be thought provoking and well organized.
A family is a group of people consisting of the parents and their children who live together and they are blood related. The family is always perceived as the basic social units whether they are living together in the same compound or at far distance but are closely related especially by blood. Therefore, the family unit has had a great influence on the growth and the character traits possessed by the children as they grow up and how they perceive the society they live in. the family also shapes the children to be able to relate well with other people that are not part of their family and with a good relationship it impacts to the peace achieved in country. “ A Temporary Matter” paints the portrait of a young Indian couple, Shoba and Shukumar, who have become cold and distant after the birth of their stillborn child. Both Shoba and Shukumar are very well assimilated to American culture, so much so that their Indian culture has slowly melted away and they often struggle to reconnect with their Indian roots. Wife Shoba decides to play a game of truth every night when their lights go out. She says it reminds her of her grandmother in India. Shukumar jumps on the chance to spend this time with his increasingly distant wife. Shukumar thinks that the game is a way to help Shoba reconnect with her past in India but he later learns that there is much more to the game than he thought.

In the short story “The Cheater’s Guide to Love” by Junot Diaz, the author pinpoints on the Yunior’s life as a writer and college professor who is also struggling with his romantic relationships. The short story is filled with his experiences of using women for his beneficial needs and how it negatively affects him. It focuses on Yunior’s downfall through life after the destruction of his relationship with his fiance. It will describe how the functionalist perspective, conflict perspective, and the interactionism theory apply to the sociological institution known as a family. But the characteristics of individual family members have changed across generations over the past years. Now, mothers are the only or supporting provider for the family. On the other hand, many fathers choose to stay home and take care of the children. Although families all around the world underwent unprecedented modifications that changed the form of nations, there are still traditional family patterns; father, mother, and children. Such huge changes in the structure of the family, immigration, and work have transformed the daily lives of children and their way of living. There are major inferences for the living arrangements of children because of the changing family dynamics. This means that children are not receiving the attention they need from the
