A speaker who doesn’t consider audience expectations about the purpose is likely to fail. It will not only fail to achieve the goal, but even cause a reaction. If the purpose is not clear, it is best not to give a presentation, let alone to consider other factors.
I will do this by finishing my presentation and go over the checklist, and I will make changes if needed. I also need to make note cards, so that will help me stop reading off the projector screen. I also need to make sure I enunciate and have good pronunciation of my words so I don’t mumble. I will also need to improve going into monotone as that makes the speech boring. After re-watching my persuasive presentation a few times I was able to effectively critique myself, and what I found was that there were some things that I did well and some things that I did not do well that I did not even notice I was doing during the presentation itself. Although I was happy with how my speech turned out there were multiple aspects such as my introduction, conclusion, deliver, and a few other minor things that could have been improved upon.
We need to be a credible speaker because audience is more likely to believe what credible speaker says. Most audience will listen to your presentation based on suspicion. They will not take the actions as you expected unless they trust you.
Originally, I had planned on researching George Lucas as my creative genius. I am in love with the Star Wars saga, but I really could not get interested in George Lucas. Then, late one night, I saw a movie called Takedown. It was based on a true story that dealt with the pursuit and capture of Kevin Mitnick, one of the most infamous computer hackers of all time. I was instantly amazed. As soon as the movie was over, I began scouring the internet looking for information concerning him. I am quite interested in computers, and Mitnick’s mastery of them drew me towards him. I knew then that he was who I wanted to research.
Making a successful public presentation or speech to an audience was a very big task for me before I joined the public speaking class. I was always frightened and very nervous. Since then I now understand the process of making a speech or a presentation including coming up with a topic and from this topic develop the main points of the speech, research, organize my points, revise them, edit and make a magnificent presentation to any audience. People in the audience might sometimes agree or disagree with my opinion or points, it was therefore necessary to communicate my information clearly to the audience without making any judgments since every person was entitled to a different opinion and views about things.
Practice is a major role that needs to be played when it comes to presenting. Practicing, I feel gives you more confidence in your speech, and more preparation than if you were to not practice. Rehearsing before the speech then presenting makes you seem like you actually know what you are talking about even if the only reason you know all these facts is because of study and practicing. Practicing through my speech really helps me with my presentation, if I practice enough, I feel very confident to where I wouldn’t need t a paper to look at notes during the speech. The way we communicate can be very important in representing ourselves in our community. In the beginning, of the semester, we watched a movie regarding a royal member whom was looked down upon because of his verbal pauses. However, throughout the movie he learns to work with his speaking style. He may have not completely eliminated the flaw but, he did learn how to overcome and adjust with it is style of public speaking.
