Why was Harry Houdini Famous?

Harry Houdini was famous because of his outstanding use as a magician. Harry had created and performed magic tricks that were new and still not yet proven possible to mankind. One of Harry’s tricks were the straight jacket escape, but that trick was just a starter. Before each show he would have his feet shackled and he would be raised in the air and he then would get out of the straight jacket. When he performed this thousands of people would gather around, he has had crowds of 30-50 thousand showing up before his show. Later that day he would performed and he would have a full audience prepared to be amazed.

Another one of his tricks was another that would astonish the crowd. He would go into a milk jug, on stage in front of everybody then fill it with water (while he is inside) and walk out from behind the curtains dripping wet and breathing heavily for air as if he had just came out from the jug. But before he had did it he would say to the crowd, “As I take my last breath, you take one with me and once you can no longer hold your breath you will then know I have a started drowning”. Tricks that Harry has done amazed the crowd up until today. He was known as one if not the greatest magician to ever live.

Harry Houdini was born Eric Weisz, on March 24, 1874. He was born in Budapest Hungary with his mother and father. His father was a Jewsih Rabi and his mother was his fathers’ wife. Harry was one of 7 children. As Harry began growing older his family and himself had moved to Appleton Wisconsin. He began claiming that Wisconsin was his place of birth. So that he could ensure a full house, knowing he still had many other amazing illusions to perform. He was a man who learned how to make a straight jacket escape and torture himself in a water cell on stage and appeared from behind the curtain minutes later. Harry Houdini didn’t only change magic, but he made actually magic that is unexplainable. The only people that may know how he did it, won’t tell to keep the mystery alive. Harry Houdini will always be apart of American history, and of his time period known as the american express.
