When you think of a serial killer who comes to your mind? Ted Bundy? Son of Sam? Well those are the first two that come to my mind. Even though they are both serial killers they are very different. When you think about the pathology of these two killers they become completely diverse people. What made them start killing is so different from each other that it makes you wonder what made them tick in the first place. Son of Sam also known as David Berkowitz whose formal name is Richard David Flaco was born on June 1, 1958 in Brooklyn, New York. He was born into a single mother household because his father was never in the picture. He grew up thinking his mother was his sister and that his grandparents were his parents. When Bundy learned his mother Louise was not his sister it turned his world upside down. When he was fourteen he was suspected of killing his first victim of many. He supposedly killed an eight-year-old named Ann Marie Burr on August 31. 1961 in Tacoma, Washington. This is an important time to look at for his pathology. It shows that he had rage as a child, and that this was probably an episode of him acting out when he found out his mother was not his sister, and that his grandparents were not his real parents. He was very anti-social as a child, and misbehaved. Once Bundy found out the truth by finding his birth certificate. Once Bundy grew to be a teenager he was attractive and liked among fellow peers from his high school. You would think he is normal right? Well, not so much; he eventually graduated and got accepted into the University of Puget Sound and that is when the confirmed assaults and murders started popping up. The change from college is a rather big one. He had just broken up with his longtime girlfriend, and that was another stressor in Bundy’s life. Having two stressors can really bring out the psychopathic tendencies in someone if they had a troubled past. On January 4, 1974 was Bundy’s first official assault. Her name is Karen Sparks, an eighteen-year-old whom he bludgeoned and sexually assaulted as she slept (www.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ted-Bundy .) In total Bundy ended up confessing to thirty homicides, but some publishers say his victim count was as high as one hundred
