Being well known can be a good thing but also can be a bad thing. For Miss Emily it all started out well until changes started to occur around her. In the story “A Rose for Emily” William Faulkner uses elements such as setting, point of view, conflict, and symbolism to describe to theme of the change death in his story.
William Faulkner was born in New Albany, Mississippi on September 25, 1897. Growing he was familiar with writing, for his grandfather was a writer himself. Faulkner attended University of Mississippi in 1924. The same year he published his first volume poetry. Although he struggled in his marriage with alcohol abuse, he later traveled to New Orleans and other places to write. He preferred to do his work in his Mississippi home.
The major theme shown in the story “A Rose for Emily” is the struggle of change for Miss Emily. Miss Emily was use to being the center of attention because of her family name.
