This was a huge learning process for me. Teaching a lesson was nerve racking for me, but it was enlightening. I have never taught a lesson before this nor did I know how to write a lesson either. I was one of the two that taught first so the one thing that constantly went through my mind was don’t mess up because this is a grade. Psychomotor relates to the origination of movement in conscious mental activity. Some students were fast at bouncing the ball than others, but it was enlightening to see both. I believe that this was appropriate for the students that I had been given to teach. I enjoyed being able to play the role of a teacher and give them not just feedback but appropriate feedback. During my lesson I wanted to make sure that I was able to see all of the students I had during the short period of time. While looking over my observation sheet I realized that there was nothing about my teacher movement on my observation paper, but I know I used back to the wall a lot of the time because that was the easiest way for me to see all the students that I was teaching my lesson too. I am bummed that I was able to see what my teacher movement was and if I used other movements, or if I moved around enough. There was an odd amount of student’s or I would not have been involved, but I wanted the group with three people to get the feel for what two people felt like. From my observer, I was under the good area for my explanations and instruction’s, “you only got asked once for clarification”. It felt pretty good to know that my first time teaching I only needed to clarify my instructions once throughout the whole lesson. The one part that wasn’t the best was my voice projection, on the observation sheet it was marked under excellent, but I know I could have brought them closer and made sure that each of the students heard my voice. I paid attention to safety making sure during the bounce pass the students weren’t getting hit in the face and that they were keeping their eye on the
My sixteen week class in English 111. I was really nervous about this class. Because English has never been my strong point. This class has hard, but fun all at the same time. I learn a lot from this class. Meanwhile,the first day of class you handed a paper with a question on it. “The first thing I want to say to you who are students is that you must not think of being here to receive an education; instead, you will do much better to think of being here to claim one.” Even though putting my all in what I have learned, claiming my education with hard work because using the skills of the meal plan, as we write to different audiences and learning to be a Critically thinker as I start becoming a critically-Literate Citizenship.

After taking “The Kinesthetic Classroom II”, I have two ultimate goals I would like to implement into my classroom. The first ultimate goal is preparing the students’ brain for class at least twice a week in the beginning of class. My second ultimate goal is to incorporate one brain break everyday on lecture days. I believe these two goals are a perfect spot to begin my journey with adding movement into my classroom. Currently in my classroom, I may provide brain breaks once in a while but not as often as I should. Also I will admit, I definitely do not prepare my students’ brain for lecture. On the 1st of November 2013, I performed my first simulation on the module, Foundation Skills for Nursing. This simulation was on checking for vital signs in patients particularly, measuring the blood pressure (BP) which is the force of blood vessels against the walls of the vessels (Marieb and Hoehn, 2010). We also measured the temperature, pulse and respiratory (TPR) rates of a patient. This simulation’s objective was to engage us in practising some basic observation techniques taken on patients in and out of hospitals and to familiarise us on some of the tasks we will be performing when in practise. I will be applying the “What”, “So what”, and “Now what” model of reflection in nursing by Driscoll (2000).
Movement is one of the most highly debated topics among teachers today, as every individual has his/her own opinions in their teaching philosophy. Teachers must get around barriers caused by the high priorities of standardized testing and low effort to include movement in their classroom; therefore, it puts too much stress on the general education teachers. There are insufficient amounts of space to complete activities requiring movement when in a classroom; therefore, the teachers are incapable of safely navigating students around the room. Some students will refuse to participate in different physical activities, causing frustration when teachers are trying to plan full class activities, and this takes away from academic instruction. It is often that educators exclude these physical activities from the classroom due to stress that is put on the schools to perform higher academically; however, studies show exercise may be a large factor in the student’s performance. There are so many ways to incorporate movement into the lessons that increase the students’ academic achievements while motivating them. As space is limited in the classroom, during the warmer months, teachers can use the outdoors as an engaging experience to refresh the students’ minds and prepare them for new lessons. Physical activities can also be used to reinforce information that was previously taught during lessons to increase the student’s knowledge of the topic. There could have been more accommodations made for my students categorized as special, and I also do feel that I needed to give more prompt feedback to assure mastery of the concepts that I was teaching. These problems could have be alleviated with the use of guiding questions, answer choices, and graphic organizers. A strength that I am proud of maintaining is my effective classroom management and my use of a guided inquiry lesson. These components kept my lesson engaging, fun, and encouraged the students to be more autonomous as I helped them to construct their own knowledge about plants. Things that I did lack in my lesson was informing the students of the purpose of the lesson and the activities that I have planned for the lesson after performing my anticipatory set. As I mentioned previously, the teaching method that I used was guided inquiry. At this stage, we are not only encouraging our students to be the constructors of their own knowledge, but we are also encouraging them to be more independent as well. Using this teaching method provides students with some practice in using inquiry processes. The obesity statistics of 2009 quantified that childhood obesity rates have more than tripled since 1980 and in addition to concerns regarding chronic diseases, overweight and obesity incidences have even led to poorer levels of academic achievement (Taras & Potts-Datema, 2005). Living in a densely populated city provides the choice atmosphere to partake in one of my favorite pastimes; People-watching. In doing so, I can observe different aspects and details of each respective personage that idly passes by, unaware that they are the object of my observations. You can videotape yourself. After you get past the way you look and the way you sound, the videotape offers better information about your teaching practices. Your students thinking about the subject is observable. Trying to tape yourself once a month is a good idea. Over the academic year focus on some particular behaviors like those mentioned before and look for the possible changes.
All in all, I felt that this lesson implementation was a good experience for me, I learned a lot from last semesters practicum, and feel more comfortable teaching the children while being observed and am able to manage the class much better, although I am still quite nervous, which is something that I will continue to work on.
Throughout this motor learning and motor control course I have learned so much. I can honestly say that with everything I have learned I will be able to put to use in my life and coaching career. A lot of what I learned was terms that dealt with the body and how it moves like motor learning, control, development, learning, skills, abilities, error, retention, and so much more. Motor learning involves the study of the acquisition of motor skills and motor control is the study of how the neuromuscular system function to enable coordinated movement. Also, in the beginning of the lesson I gave the students clear directions of what I expected of the students. I had the students repeat the expectations back to me which was a success since they understood and did what was expected. After the activity, the students were supposed to complete a word sort and then a writing prompt. During the writing and the sort, I did not give clear instructions which affected the students and how they completed the assessment.
