After doing the social service, a kind of satisfaction was felt. I have very well utilized my holidays and the decision to teach the students of government school was very productive. All I realized is instead of wasting time during holidays, I would better involve in activities like teaching, where I can bring smile to so many faces. Moreover it is a self-satisfactory job.
Now I have decided that for my every vacation I am surely to give my time in more of productive area and work towards bringing smile on student faces. Overall my decision to teach these underprivileged children was fruitful. And I am happy to be a part of their happiness even though for a small period of time.

I hope they feel they can come to me when they need help with not just a school problem, but a problem in their personal life or when they just need some to listen. I hope I can model the same teacher characteristics to my students as I felt she showed me. She was caring, warm, and very interested in her students’ total well-being.
An outstanding educator possesses unique qualities that set him or her apart from others in the field. Ask any student about a favorite teacher and listen intently as he or she describes that person with a smile. Ask a parent of a child who will enter first grade in the fall about the teacher choice for their child. The parent would describe the outstanding educator in their desire for that special teacher. The qualities of an outstanding educator are easily recognized by those whose lives they touch, shape, and change on a daily basis. It is in this writing piece that they will be described and discussed.
For my site visit reflection paper, I decided to visit the Thai Buddhist Temple in Homestead. The reason this particular site was my choice was because information acquired from the videos in lecture about tradition and Confucianism in Asia made me curious to learn more about the Buddhist way of life. Because so many South Eastern countries instantaneously adopted Buddhism from India and then China with open arms, I decided to make the visit in the morning to learn the reasons for the international success of this way of life. This would give me a more interactive comprehension of Buddhism.
The town and the school reminded me immensely of my hometown and, I felt an immediate connection with the students from the community. Consequently, I recognized what it means to be a teacher throughout those five days when taught the students of the community. Immediately, on Monday we discovered that some of the lessons we had planned before the trip were not the best for the students, therefore, we needed to create modifications on the spot, I grasped that an outstanding teacher needs to be flexible and adapt in order to meet the needs of the students in the classroom. For that reason, we would modify our lessons as the day went since we would teach Kinder through 5th grade all on the same day, it was a daunting task, but in retrospect, I feel a considerable superior confidence with my abilities as an educator. I am eager for my residency to begin in order for me to put into practice the skills I acquired during this study abroad. Without a doubt, I have a different mindset as a beginning teacher due to this experience and I have gained a newfound attitude about what it means to be a
I am particularly motivated to be an effective and efficient teacher. The basis for this high motivation is my love of learning, respect for the profession, and commitment to inspire others. Therefore, I have chosen a career in teaching. I feel passionate about the direct positive impact I will have on my future students’ lives. Teaching supports my goal of influencing students’ on both the academic and social levels.
There is no more critical role in our current society than that of a teacher’s. Teachers help shape the minds of the future. Tomorrow's engineers, scientists, politicians, and educators are all greatly influenced by today's instructors. Without teachers society would not be anywhere near where it is now, and only a select few would have access to learning. Sadly however important teachers are in human civilization, they are still drastically understated, unrecognized and under paid.
Successful teachers develop the whole child by making integrated efforts to promote their student’s academic, social and emotional learning. Children need to be aware of themselves and others; make responsible decisions, and be ethical and respectful of the people around them.
A teacher today needs to have an ability to relate to and create partnerships not with their students, but also families, administrators and other professionals. This ensures that all persons involved with the education of the student are on the same page. All involved then work in harmony and help each other achieve the common goal of educating the student in the best possible way for the best possible result. (Wesley, 1998, p 80)
Mir, S. (2011), Education woes: Shortage of teachers a threat to public schools, Tribune, 3 April.
I chose education as my career path after working in a classroom to fulfill a Field Study course. The children had a powerful impact; they were amazing; challenging, and most of all loving. In helping them, I quickly realized that I was the one receiving the gift that ultimately inspired me down the path of serving disadvantaged children. After experiencing two semesters in classrooms, I realized my enthusiasm for teaching was not a mere in-the-moment feeling but rather a genuine enthusiasm. I became aware that teachers are an important foundation in society and I look forward to the opportunity to develop the skills children need to adapt and apply for the rest of their lives by encouraging knowledge, character and resilience.
“One looks back with appreciation to the brilliant teachers, but with gratitude to those who touched our human feelings. The curriculum is so much necessary raw material, but warmth is the vital element for the growing plant and for the soul of the child.”
Teachers serve as the guiding force in a student’s life. They are responsible for molding a student’s personality and shaping his/her mental orientation. Teachers deeply impact our lives and direct the course of our future. One cannot deny the influence of teachers in one’s life. In fact, it would not be an exaggeration to say that, till a certain age, out life revolves around our teachers. They are our constant companions, until we grow old enough to come out of their shadow and move ahead on our own.
In serving as teachers with advise about a society that they know and are very much a part of, they apply a much needed force to society giving them the power to link their cultural ideals with the modern ideals of the Western world.

In recent years, the cliché image of a teacher has come under attach. Research has shown that teachers often work in an isolated setting in which they are considered experts in their specific area; however they often lack the support and equipment needed to do their jobs effectively. As a result, to the inadequate working environment new teachers often leave the profession within the first five years. These conditions often exist because the educational system fails to prepare our teachers with the proper tools and experience needed to do their job well (U.S. Department of Education, 2010).
