This motivational attitude can has been clearly portrayed throughout Rich Cohen's Biographical Novel, The Fish That Ate the Whale. Cohen has mainly focused on the life of Russian Immigrant, Samuel Zemurray; on how a roughly sixteen year old boy compared to the 'fish' lands in the land of opportunities and ended up becoming a popular and powerful figure both in politics and business through market of banana compared as the 'whale'. Cohen also defines vivid and profound description about people, places and events that is linked with Samuel Zemurray in his road towards great triumphs. Most of the reviewers of this book have critically acclaimed it saying, "Cohen discusses about bananas, their cultivation, gathering, shipping, sale, and consumption - a supply-and-demand success story for Zemurray and others like him. This is a popular history and biography at its best" (Bloyd 82). It is Cohen's excellent ability on his work and research to deliver a picture of history to the readers side-by-side as the life story of Zemurray gradually moves on. The biography of Zemurray is written in four parts as Green, Yellow, Ripe and Brown. In chapter Yellow, Cohen presents a boatload of allegory about Zemurray's greatest risks and crucial decisions including a plan to ignite revolution in Honduras, a decision not indicating best of Zemurray's work but indicating his requirement to rule an empire( Cohen 75). Cohen's approach to provide detail information and rationalization of characters and places towards Zemurray's biography enhances deeper understanding among the readers because Cohen not only... ... middle of paper ... ...
