Unable to find any two songs specific enough to compare I have decided to do a critical analysis essay on the show Archer, having just watched this show I was very interested in their writing, dialogue and underlying themes. They attack racism, sexism, women’s liberties, political discourse, and xenophobia in a refreshing way that can be mistaken by some as offensive and blunt. Especially in today’s society with the advancing in standards in political correctness, satirical shows such as Archer consistently toe the line and at times cross it and when these shows cross the line there is more often than not some form of outcry. As the first season goes on and Sterling continues to find his self in situations due to his arrogance and looks to the very people whose struggle he ignores and ridicules to help him solve his problem. This situation is an intriguing parallel to the bank bailouts in America, requiring the help and the use of taxes of the middle class’s money despite their policies that helped the banks’ executive staff become so wealthy. At first glance Archer truly does appear to be a television show about a carefree yet inexplicably competent espionage agency, and as the episodes progress and the layers begin to grow and develop you begin to see the façade of their competency fade away. ISIS, the agency, fails just about every mission they are hired for so much so that Mallory, Sterling’s mother, sends them on missions under false pretenses so that their failure works positively in their favor. Season 4 Episode 8 titled Coyote Lovely entails intricate manipulation done by Mallory. In one episode Sterling derails the mission for a woman he believes to be the perpetrator, but is essentially the key piece to the grander mission. Sterling falls head over heels when he sees her and offers to help her take the illegal immigrants across the border with her, and then ends up being shot and in the final three minutes of the episode the suspected perpetrator reveals that Sterling was just the essential piece in the game of chess that was the episode. How does being sentenced to prison affect someone later in his or her life? Many people pose the question, but they have yet to form an immutable response. Oscar Wilde once said, “one of the many lessons that one learns in prison is, that things are what they are and will be what they will be”, this quotation engenders the philosophy of prison, which consists of one being held responsible for his or her wrongdoings. The book Orange is the New Black by Piper Kerman explores how a once drug money launderer goes to jail for a crime which she committed almost a decade earlier. At the time she committed the crime, she considered herself lost and naive in regards to her life. Throughout the book, the audience witnesses Kerman’s struggles and how she ultimately overcomes them in order to better herself for the future. After examining the book, one can see that Kerman uses many rhetorical elements in her writing such as ethos, the rhetorical triangle, narration, and myriad others to make her memoir a timeless piece of non-fiction.
There are a lot of songs to choose form when there is songs that break down norms and one that reinforce some. There are songs that mean nothing. Great songs always have a hidden mean behind them even if when listen to them we do not know what they are.
Imagine living in a world where the public believed everything the government said, or a world where people did not question the authority. It would suck, right? Well believe it or not today’s society is faced with problems similar to those, and often people cannot see these problems while others do not realize that they are serious issues. Thankfully thanks to technology, we are able to bring awareness of these issues by placing emphasis on them.

Satire is defined as the use of irony, sarcasm, or exaggeration to expose and criticize human folly or vice. Mark Twain’s, Huckleberry Fin, is a novel that in order to be fully appreciated and understood must be seen as a work of satire. Twain uses satire in an attempt to both mock aspects of society as well as jeer at the American people. Why twain uses satire . Different Strokes a comedy sitcom, first aired in 1978, and lasted until 1986. This sitcom consisted of a widowed Manhattan millionaire, Phillip Drummond , who adopted two orphaned brothers. Arnold who was 8 years old and Willis who was 12. The boys' mother was Drummonds housekeeper who became very ill, so Drummond made a promise to her that he would take care of her two sons after she passed away. Drummond treated the two boys like his own. He also lived with his daughter, Kimberly, who was 13 years old, and his current housekeeper. This sitcom showed typical life lessons in growing up, and social problems that were occurring during that time. Some of the aspects of this show were both positive and negative.

The instruments utilized by the songwriters in “Bullet the Blue Sky” created a chaotic vibe for me as I was reading the poem. The big intro before the first verse of U2’s song helped me feel the tension in the song before the lyrics even commenced. I noticed that “Bullet the Blue Sky” kept referring to the tune of “The Ants Go Marching In.” I thought it was an excellent fit to the lyrics of the song, the tune symbolizing the United States military marching into the country of El Salvador. In “Minority Poem,” I enjoyed how Lum integrated tone, active voice, and explosive consonants into his poem to catch the audience’s attention. The symbols he utilized in his poem, such as apple pie, caught my attention. I was impressed with how Lum was able to convey a sarcastic tone in the poem merely by using certain words. The fact that Lum writes his poem in an aggressive tone gave me a sense that he was describing the hostility in which Caucasian Americans treat minorities in the U.S. in the active form. The words themselves in “Minority Poem” imply assertiveness and demonstrate the fact that Caucasian-Americans really dislike minorities. This essay will examine my thoughts and those of David Sterrit on the critically acclaimed television show The Honeymooners. First, I will talk about the Honeymooners and it’s setting in postwar America. Secondly, the social and cultural issues the series portrayed. Next, would be the psychological perspective and the aesthetics of the show. Finally, the essay would conclude with my thoughts on how the Honeymooners were impacted by these aspects, but also how the show managed to leave a legacy in television today.

The best satirical writers can make the reader believe that an idea is “logical and practical.” This is seen in great abundance in Aldous Huxley’s novel, Brave New World. Through his writing, Huxley uses satire to effectively point out the flaws of society at the time. Even though Brave New World was written in 1931, the satirical points Huxley makes are still relevant in today’s world.

It has imaginative changes in tempo, vocal delivery and instrumentation, and imparts a wide range of emotions ranging from pure joy, to melancholy and despair. With its use of formal structure, allusions, and figurative language, the song, “American Pie”, has many poetic qualities.

In 2009 a new reality show called The Jersey shore first aired, on the MTV network. The show South Park was first aired in August of 1997, and was similar to shows like Family Guy or The Simpsons in terms of pushing the limits of acceptable television to gain their audience. Since its creation the show is still infamous for its crude humor, vulgar language, and suggestive dialogue. Episode 2 of season 19 is the perfect example of the creators mixing satire and irony to give the audience a clear yet humorous view on immigration in America today.
