When you think about slavery, if you think about slavery, you probably associate it with the sex trade. And for good reason. 8 of 10 human trafficking cases worldwide involve the sex industry in one way or another. The others involve labor trafficking, people being made to work in sub-human conditions in factories and farms and shadow businesses worldwide.("February 27th 2014 Shine a Light on Slavery Day." END IT. N.p., n.d. Web. 18 Feb. 2014.) Today human lives revolve around money. When times get hard people will literally do anything to survive or provide. In most cases people are subjectively forced to be owned by another human being, known as slavery. About 800,000 people are trafficked into countries around the world, including the United States, for trade in sub-human conditions and hard labor. Human trafficking is a billion dollar industry and humans are being smuggled into countries to be forced into slavery; however, movements have started internationally to help make this cause more well-known and stop its escalation.
