A Comparison of the Length of Words Found in Magazines and Newspapers

I will be writing up a hypothesis comparing the length of words in

magazines and newspapers. I also have to design and carry out an

investigation to test my hypothesis. I will use both sources to see

which one uses more length of words. My results will be shown in

various formats i.e. bar charts, tally charts etc.

Investigating further

---------------------

I will be looking to see which of the two sources uses greater length

in words.

My hypothesis

-------------

My prediction is that the magazine will uses more lengthy wordings

then the newspaper..

Extension hypothesis

--------------------

I predict that the magazine will have more words in sentences than the

newspaper.

I can have various problems when researching the article to choose

this is due to the fact that the articles may differ from one another.

This usually happens due to the fact that the newspaper will contain

the most recent updated information as the magazine may not.

The newspaper I have used is called The Sun and the magazine I will be

using will be Shoot this is a football magazine. The articles are

therefore about football.

Collecting Results

I will be using basic counting of the length of the letters and

recording my findings in a tally chart format. I will be using in

average about 100 words.
