A Comparison of Computer Graphics Cards
In today’s world of advanced computer games, the requirements that computers must meet to run these games are very, very steep ones. A major requirement of almost all high tech computer games is a decent graphics card. With most of the games today being developed in 3-D, unlike the games a decade ago which were almost always 2-D, an advanced graphics card is a must to get any amount of fun from these games. Two companies that are heavyweights in the ring of computer graphics are ATI and NVIDIA.
ATI and NVIDIA are two main suppliers of almost all computer graphics cards in the U.S. and abroad, and while they supply cards for many different clients (engineers, graphic

If there is one factor that can kill a graphics card or any other computer chip for that matter, it is heat. Heat is a computer’s nemesis. It can ruin computer components over time and destroy a CPU in an instant. The X800 has done a wonderful job in dealing with heat. Like any other graphics card of its kind it is going to give off a significant amount of heat. Unlike the 6800 though, the X800 has managed to keep the heat sink almost the exact same size as it has been on the RADEON 9XXX series. The heat sink is a component that helps to dissipate the heat from computer processors. The 6800 has to deal with an enormous heat sink due to the fact that it gives off significantly more heat than the X800. This is partly because of the power requirements of the card that was mentioned earlier. Now this wouldn’t be a problem except that most standard heat sinks use fans which get to be extremely noisy the bigger they become. What does this all mean? It means that the X800 has a smaller heat sink than the 6800 and therefore doesn’t make as much noise. This is huge bonus for the X800 since most gamers will look for anyway possible to keep their computer quiet. Once those two broader issues have been looked at, it is time to delve deeper into the technical specifications that were mentioned …show more content…
At the core of DirectX are its application programming interfaces, or APIs. The APIs act as a kind of bridge for the hardware and the software to "talk" to each other.” What this means is the X800 and the 6800 both use DirectX to talk to whatever game, or any other graphical software, is being run at the time. When looking at the X800 and the 6800 it appears that both support Microsoft’s DirectX version 9.0. But when looked at more closely, the 6800 makes more use of this support than the X800. NVIDIA has chosen to run many new features that are offered by the latest version of DirectX while ATI has chosen to simply optimize and improve the features of DirectX that their past RADEON 9XXX series used. This may seem to give NVIDIA the edge but in fact it falls short. While having some of the newer features of DirectX implemented by NVIDIA is nice, ATI’s approach of “if it isn’t broke don’t fix it” seems to work and run much more smoothly. What has been fixed, and increased significantly, are the speeds of each of these
Ever experienced a video game with stunning in-game graphics that some games give only in their major event cut scenes? Ever played a game with an excellent mixture of strategy and fast-paced motion? Well if that game is Final Fantasy 13, a single player game developed by Square Enix, you have played a game that Gaming Age calls “one of the most gorgeous games to grace a video game console”. Playing this game was one of the greatest moments of my life. This game has actually influenced me to go full force in wanting to make video games for a living. Final Fantasy 13, in my opinion, has accentuated the great gaming potential of the Xbox 360® and Playstation® 3 consoles.
When customers decide what product or what brand they should purchase they consider a few different factors. Light users focus on pricing and the look of the products. Whereas, heavy users look for performance capabilities. Does the provide them with what they need during their activity?
... book to characters in other novels, you begin to see styles of leadership that are used and the effectiveness that they can have on a person’s character and ability to accomplish a mission. I feel as if a constant leadership style was put in charge from the beginning of their deployment that followed the standard that was necessary, then the soldiers would have been unable to commit the crimes they did during their deployment. On the flipside of that coin, I feel as if more competent leaders had existed through the tumultuous time of the deployment, they would have been able to adapt to the situation and control the soldiers they were responsible for no matter how difficult the deployment became. Despite the fact that 11 of 33 original 1st platoon leaders were removed by the end of the deployment a strong leader duo could have prevented the actions that took place.

One of the most important elements of these religions is their history. The Hindu religion disputably began around 2500 years before the Common Era (B.C.E.) in India. It was geographically based along the Indus River, which was called “Hindu” by the Persians who had migrated there. They also called the land Hindustan and it’s inhabitants, Hindus. After that, the religion that followed was called Hinduism. Today, almost 800 million people practice the Hindu religion (Spodek, 261)
Building a gaming computer may be an intimidating endeavour, but in all actuality with a little hard work anyone can be a whiz at putting together a gaming computer. Why build a custom gaming PC? Well it’ll save money, and give the builder a great experience. It’s always fun to learn how different things work. The price of a top of the line retail gaming computer runs from two thousand on up to five thousand dollars and beyond, a monitor alone could cost one thousand dollars. The two types of gaming PC builds are , the hardcore gamer build which will cost a little extra, and the casual gamer build which isn’t as expensive; moreover, the steps in building a gaming PC are: creating a budget, researching what the builder/user wants the PC to be used for, and purchasing the equipment.

The existence of many large manufacturers in addition to the continuous entry by smaller manufacturers results in limited differentiation and decreased competitive advantage among PC manufacturers. All manufacturers have access to similar suppliers and therefore have the same buying power especially for processors which are sold at the same price to all manufacturers. It is clear that the competitive advantage in the PC industry is not sustainable as easy replication by competitors promotes price wars which lower profit margins for the industry as a whole. Ultimately, high competition and price fluctuations have led the PC industry to low profitability.
What thoughts come to mind when you think of "The Lottery?" Positive thoughts including money, a new home, excitement, and happiness are all associated with the lottery in most cases. However, this is not the case in Shirley Jackson’s short story, "The Lottery." Here, the characters in the story are not gambling for money, instead they are gambling for their life. A shock that surprises the reader as she unveils this horrifying tradition in the village on this beautiful summer day. This gamble for their life is a result of tradition, a tradition that is cruel and inhumane, yet upheld in this town. Shirley Jackson provides the reader’s with a graphic description of violence, cruelty, and inhumane treatment which leads to the unexpected meaning of "The Lottery." Born in San Francisco, Jackson began writing early in her life. She won a poetry prize at age twelve and continued writing through high school. In 1937 she entered Syracuse University, where she published stories in the student literary magazine. After marriage to Stanley Edgar Hyman, a notable literary critic, she continued to write. Her first national publication “My Life with R.H. Macy” was published in The New Republic in 1941but her best-known work is “The Lottery.”(Lit Links or Reagan). Jackson uses characterization and symbolism to portray a story with rising action that surprises the reader with the unexpected odd ritual in the village. While one would expect “The Lottery” to be a positive event, the reader’s are surprised with a ritual that has been around for seventy-seven years , demonstrating how unwilling people are to make changes in their everyday life despite the unjust and cruel treatment that is associated with this tradi...
Computer games have steadily become a form of mainstream entertainment ever since Pong was released back in 1958. Today, it is hard to find an electronics department in any store that doesn't carry some sort of computer game. "Big deal," you say, "Everyone knows about computer games. What does they have to do with physics?" Well, the technology for creating more powerful software is constantly advancing, and since games are a form of software, they too become more and more advanced. As games become more advanced, game developers aim to create games that offer a more realistic experience. The technology has advanced to such a stage that making the games look real is no problem, but making a truly immersive experience is something different. That's where physics comes in.

In the past, the kind of technology that we had to develop video games was just something really simple such as GoldSrc which was a game engine used internally by Valve Software to create a video game called Half-Life. We did not have anything advanced like Cryengine 3 or Frostbite 3 to create some currently well-known known games that have realistic looking graphics such as Crysis 3 or Battlefield Hardline. In our world today, entertainment has taken a big part in our lives, especially in developed countries such as the United States. Beside from movies, we have a really high demand and expectations toward our video games. For the purpose of competition, most video game developers are required to be up to date with their technology in order
The PC industry is highly competitive and constantly changing as technology evolves and customer needs change. Some of the top competitors in the PC industry are IBM, Hewlett-Packard, Dell and Apple. Theses rivals are constantly jockeying for the top competitor’s position. They compete in prices, product innovation, advertising, etc.
The PC industry is just over 20 years old. In those 20 years, both the quality
A processor is the chip inside a computer which carries out of the functions of the computer at various speeds. There are many processors on the market today. The two most well known companies that make processors are Intel and AMD. Intel produces the Pentium chip, with the most recent version of the Pentium chip being the Pentium 3. Intel also produces the Celeron processor (Intel processors). AMD produces the Athlon processor and the Duron processor (AMD presents).
