Melbourne’s western region all the way up to Geelong is connected to Greater Melbourne in multiple ways through the strong relationships between trade, tourism and infrastructure. Tourism is another major factor that connects Melbourne and Geelong. Melbourne is a more structural business area whereas Geelong is more a tourism and site seeing area. With one of them being You Yangs National Park. The you yangs is located approximately 55 kilometres south-west of Melbourne and 22 kilometres north-east of Geelong. Many school groups and tourists come to visit You Yangs as it is known for great scenery, mountain bike riding, cross country and family picnic areas. The social impact that the You Yangs would have in Geelong would be positive, as people come from Melbourne to go for a day trip to the You-Yangs it would make sense to go to Geelong before or after your trip. This resulting in Geelong getting more tourism and more people coming into Geelong. The impacts of so many people coming to the You-Yangs environmentally could be harmful for the plants and animals that live in the regional park.
