No other president has ever faced a bigger threat than John F. Kennedy did during his first and only term of presidency. John Kennedy faced the threat of nuclear warfare with the Soviet Union during the year nineteen sixty-two. During this year, Kennedy found out that the Soviet Union had built up their military arsenal on the island of Cuba which is only ninety miles south of Miami, Florida and that their arsenal included nuclear weapons. John F. Kennedy then took the best possible plan of action. JFK released this information to the people of the United States and to those in Cuba with his famous speech known as, “The Cuban Missile Address to the Nation” which implied that he was going to quarantine Cuba. This speech shed light on what the Soviets were really doing during the Cold War and put the Soviets in the World 's spotlight.
