860 Words2 Pages

Throughout this essay I will be comparing and contrasting the three religions I chose. The religions I chose are Christianity from the in class lecture portion, Scientology from the Western region, and Shintoism from the Eastern Asia region. For each religion I will be comparing their Gods, belief systems, rewards & punishments, and their prophets. I will first start by giving a brief overview of each religion and then finish by comparing the religions.
I will begin with Christianity from the in class lecture portion. Christianity has four prophets that were born in Israel between 740-536 BC. Their names were Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, and Daniel. Christianity believes in one God; the “supreme being.” They believe that God is eternal and the creator of the world. Being the “creator of the world” Christians consider God to be the almighty father. Christianity is a theistic religion; this means a “Belief in the existence of a divine reality; usually referring to monotheism (one God).” "Theism." PBS. PBS, n.d. Each christian goes through a spiritual rebirth called Baptism. Lastly, christians believe that salvation only comes through God. When one believes in Jesus and does good work they will be rewarded with the afterlife and acceptance into heaven.
Next I will talk about Scientology from the Western region if the world. The prophet or founder of Scientology is Ron Hubbard. In the Scientology, there is no “God” They have what is called the “Eighth Dynamic.” The Eighth Dynamic is considered “the urge toward existence as infinity.” "Does Scientolo...

As you can see each religion differs in many different ways. I believe they are all different because they each come from a very separate part of the world and also, from different time periods. While some aspects from each religion are the same, this gives you the idea that each religion is not completely original and that they all influence each other in one way or another.
