If Shania sets her company up as a limited partnership where she is the general partner, Carlos has a place of not only being a worker for the coffeehouse, but also being a limited partner. A limited partnership “forms with at least one general partner, and at least one limited partner (Rothenberg & Melnikova, 2003).” There are some concerns from others of Carlos being a partner; mainly tied to the troubling fact he’s not a Christian himself and he’s only using Shania’s business for profit. However, this doesn’t mean Shania couldn’t use Carlos as a limited partner. Being a Christian herself, Shania understands the importance of obeying and submitting to her husband. However, Shania should make every attempt to persuade her brother-in-law in letting his wife, her sister, contribute to the business. Although not a believer himself, Shania’s brother-in-law demonstrates behavior that is very similar to a believer. His main reason for wanting his wife to be home is simply tied to the fact he wants his children to be raised correctly; feeling that a woman, the mother, can do this the best. If Shania, or Kelsey, can convince him that from the perspective of their faith that he’s in the right, the husband might be more open into listening their sides of the arguments. Furthermore, Shania can now tap into his concerns for his children by using other perspectives of their faith to support the idea of Kelsey getting work. For example, if Shania can convince her brother-in-law that he’s actually doing more harm to the children’s well-being than good, even though unintentionally, he might be convinced. We are to not judge by outside appearances. A Christian business owner must understand they are to imitate God in how He assigns tasks to us and manages us. “Then Peter began to speak: ‘I now realize how true it is that God does not show favoritism but accepts from every nation the one who fears Him and does what is right’(Acts 10: 34-35, NIV).” The preceding Bible verse will show Shania that she must not promote people based on their ethnicity and race, but rather she should promote the ones who perform their jobs with the utmost professionalism and enthusiasm.
