The career that I would love to have is to be a publicist. My career goals consist of being a founder and CEO of my own PR firm. So, for my career research, I was trying to find a person who is similar to my race, gender, and spirituality. I wanted to understand the field that I am interested in by interviewing someone who has the same background as I do. By interviewing someone with the same similarities as me, I would get a sense of what my obstacles would be as well as how to overcome the obstacles. Assigned to this assignment, I knew that the overall process would be a little challenging. However, I underestimated those challenges. In my head, I knew exactly what type of person I wanted to interview for this assignment. Again, the person I wanted to interview had to be a faith driven, black or a woman of color, who founded and is a CEO of her own company. I felt like since I had a specific professional in mind, finding a professional would be challenging. In my essay, I will discuss further on my experience of using my network to find the professional to interview, the process of setting up my …show more content…
Frustrated, I realize I wasn’t going to get the interview I wanted. So, I started asking my friends who created their own company. I talked to other friends who were in marketing firms, analysts, and all of them was stressing out with this quarter. At some point, I had a few people that were willing to Skype, but every time it came time for our interview, they had to reschedule. I gave up on those people and kept searching. Finally, I found someone to interview through one of my old contacts from an internship, I previously had. Her name was Kelly and she was initially the type of person I wanted to interview. Kelly, an African-American, founded and owned her own company called, Impact Media Coalition. I was happy and it was time to set up and prepare for the
It was my original intention to interview Lad Akins Director of Special Projects at REEF (Reef Environmental Education Foundation). Lad was also Executive Director of REEF from when it was started in early 1990’s. So not only is he an employee, but is familiar with anybody who has ever been employed at REEF. Furthermore, it would have been interesting to get an answer to the question, When you were young did you want to grow up to run a non-profit marine conservation organization? A schedule miscommunication took place, and Lad was out in the ocean collecting data when I showed up at REEF Headquarters in Key Largo. However, the new Lionfish Program Coordinator, Elizabeth Underwood was conducting a class for high school students at the time. I sat in on the class, and then interviewed Elizabeth Underwood afterwards.
She said reading is very important. Reading newspapers will allow people to have a broader view, so that people can use the things they learned to talk to their clients. At the same time, people can get to know what happened in this world, which can help them do their work better. Also I asked her could she introduce other people in the same career field to me. She told me that I need to have a clear mind. She asked me to think three questions before I meet those people. The first one is that why do you want to meet. Next one is what do you want to learn from them. The last question is who you want to meet. If I am clear with all the answers of these questions, she will definitely help me to find someone that match my

For this assignment, I chose to interview an individual whom I’ve named “Stan Polansky” to protect the anonymity of my interviewee. Stan is a 25 year old Polish man who officially moved to the U.S. roughly 3 years ago after moving back and forth from Poland and the US. Stan was faced with the difficult economic decision of deciding whether or not to pursue a career as a musician or in the jewelry business. Stan chose to attend a trade school and pursued a career as a jewelry repairman/ custom jewelry designer instead, making him now a third generation jeweler. Stan is currently employed at his family’s jewelry business. However, this decision did not come easy. Stan’s Polish culture and family played a large role in his decision. In addition,

Have you ever just met someone and feel as though you have some odd connection with them? Well, I have experienced this feeling by going out of my comfort zone and interviewing someone I would not have thought I had much in common with. I chose to interview one of my coworkers. I was really fascinated to learn about how much she has been through over the course of her life. It was a lot of fun getting to know her, and being invited to such a delicious dinner while I asked her thousands of questions about her life. It’s fascinating to see how strong a person can be to endure so many trials and tribulations, but still continue to overcome them and live life to the fullest. While interviewing my coworker I have learned that you should never judge

One, to how I viewed his passion and two, how I view my own passions. Now let me get a little more in depth on the real effects of these two things.
