The profession I plan to pursue after graduation is Physical Therapy. Physical Therapist are clinicians who work in a variety of healthcare settings such as hospitals, orthopedic institutes, and nursing homes to name a few. These highly skill professionals diagnose and treat folks who have medical problems, athletic injuries, or other deteriorating health conditions involving their musculoskeletal system. Patients are sent to physical therapists in order to get "hands on" on care for their conditions. In order to maintain a healthier lifestyle, physical therapists exercise prevention techniques with their patients. These techniques could include developing fitness exercises and wellness programs that can be consistently followed by their patients. As I grew older, I developed an attraction towards sports medicine/rehabilitation which could be exemplified by my profession of choice. Physical Therapists are able to combine health with athletes involved in sports, a niche I could definitely see myself in the future.

A year and three months ago, I was at football practice. I was on the defensive line. I tripped up the running back, but the running back landed on my left ankle. The result was a fracture on my left tibia. I played on my injury for two weeks. At that moment, I was not able to play football for the rest of the year. During this summer, I injured my back. I began to accumulate information about how to treat my injuries. While I was researching, the words physical therapy popped up. I clicked on them, and the article discussed what a physical therapist does. When I was halfway down the article, it stated that a physical therapist helps people with injuries like mine. After researching, I decided to be a physical therapist.
In my future, I want to work in the field of Health and Medicine. In the field of Health and Medicine, I want to be a Physical Therapist. I will begin in PART I of my research by delving into the specific requirements physical therapy schools across the south mandate to attain entry into the schools. Along with researching school requirements, I will attempt to learn more about the different specialty fields that a career in physical therapy has to offer, along with finding out if the schools I’m applying to offer them. Orthopedic, sports, geriatric, inpatient, in-home, and pediatric therapy all span the divisions of what a physical therapist may choose as their branch of focus, and all are potential specializations to choose from towards the end of schooling.
In my junior year of high school I was expected to be one of the top runners for my schools cross country team. I had trained the off season and my times had dropped exponentially compared to the seasons before. Unfortunately that year I was unfairly sidelined by a stress fracture in the tibia of my right leg. After discovering that I had this injury I did my own extensive research as to how this injury occurred, how I could speed up my recovery, and how to prevent another injury like this from occurring. It was during this research that I cemented my desire that I wanted to pursue a career in physical therapy. During my visit at Duquesne University, I fell in love with the campus. I believe that Duquesne is the right school for me because
While in college I became a volunteer at a hospital. There I came across physical therapy. Therapists would go to patient rooms to help individuals work on exercises or get them up to walk. Whenever I saw a physical therapist, I paid close attention. Therapists would help patients regain their strength or motion and I found that incredible. I did my own research and read more about what physical therapy was and the schooling needed. I want a career that will challenge me every day but also allows me to interact with and help people. During my research I came across Texas Woman’s University. While at college I reached out to someone at the office of admissions and we met. She gave me more information on the doctor of physical therapy program

Knowing members of my family beforehand provides me a better glimpse of how PT has changed them. They are actively healthier people now, continuing to use the knowledge they gained as a preventative measure. Instead of just receiving the required treatment, they were educated on how to further improve their well-being. The therapists my mother, father, sister, and nephew have worked with left a positive impact on my family as a whole. This demonstration of professionalism helped to spark my interest in PT, and as a student, I hope to create the ability to do the same for
