Political: France ● Louis XVI ○ king of France and Navarre. He abolish serfdom, remove the taille, and increased tolerance towards non-Catholics and supported the North American colonists ● Marie Antoinette ○ Dauphin of France. She was married to Louis XVI and was accused by the French people as being promiscuous and sympathizing with Austria ● Louisburg ○ location of a ¼ partial reconstruction of an 18th century French fortress. The original settlement was made in 1713 ● St. Dominique ○ French colony on the Caribbean island of Hispaniola ● French and Indian War (1754-1763) ○ North American part of the 7 Years War. One could find this war between the colonies of British America and New France ○ The British got Guadeloupe, but then returned it to France in the Treaty of Paris (1763). The Treaty of Paris was an agreement between the kingdoms of Great Britain, France, Spain and Portugal after the Seven Years War England ● King George I ● The king of Great Britain. During his rule, Britain transitioned to the cabinet government. This government was led by a prime minister - the first Prime Minister named Robert Walpole (he was the longest serving in history). Walpole was a Whig who also became the First Lord of the Treasury ○ ● King George II ○ Was also the king of great Britain but was the last foreign British monarch. ● King George III ○ Another king of Great Britain. This George’s time of being in power was known as a reign involving difficulties with the military. This king also suffered from a mental illness ● William Pitt the Elder ○ Whig who led Britain during the 7 Years’ War and who became a wartime political leader of Britain ○ Gen. He wrote passionate music and composed with ease of melody and a blend of grace that no one has ever surpassed Technology: Alfalfa & Clover ● alfalfa is used to feed horses and were introduced by the Spanish as a crop, which they cultivated like hay. Clover was a good crop for trade and could easily be cultivated Potato & Maize ● Caused the Old World population to grow rapidly after the Spanish brought the potato to Europe. Maize was then introduced to the colonies through the native Americans, who cultivated it and used for many different dishes
