Copenhagen (2014) is Canadian director Mark Raso’s first film, and it follows the story of 28 year old William who is in search of his grandfather, and with the help of a young woman called Effy they set off on a scavenger hunt around Copenhagen. During this time William is guided to his own maturity. The city becomes another important character in the story, William meets his uncle and he gives him a set of pictures of his father when he was a kid, Effy has the brilliant idea of going around the city to the places in the pictures. He wants to see the places that made his father smile, by doing this he begins to understand the answers to his past. Gethin Anthony (Games of Thrones) who plays William does an incredible job portraying the immature man who goes around the world sleeping around and not having a care in the world. Together they visit Tivoli [a famous amusement park and garden] they also ventured into the dark in search of Den Lille Havfrue or also known as the statute of The Little Mermaid. They went on to other important locations in search of clues towards finding his grandfather, and had made it a mission to take a picture in each and every place that his father had taken pictures as a child. The scenes are very dreamlike but real at the same time, you also get lost in the beauty of the stone streets, the colorful buildings, and the breathtaking contrast between the water and the rainbow colored buildings along the shore. The color vibrancy changes depending on the mood of the characters and the setting of the scene.
