As risk factors and diseases can begin early in life, wellness promotion and disease prevention efforts are significant for delaying premature death, delaying premature death, improving quality of life, and lessening the economic burden on the health care system (Slawson, et al. 2013). Regular health assessments are key elements of wellness promotion and disease prevention. When an individual has established a relationship with a primary care provider, that provider can look for changes through regular screening. When a person visits their physician at least once a year, the individual can reduce the risks of a health issue going undetectable. According to 2005-2006 National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey data, 40% of those with diabetes were undiagnosed and one in three Americans were found to be at risk for diabetes based on impaired fasting glucose or impaired glucose tolerance (Slawson, et al. 2013). According to the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, dietary interventions have shown promise for primary prevention of some types of disease, such as diabetes and cancer (Slawson, et al. 2013). Physical activity also play an important role in disease prevention. The prevalence of osteoporosis had been estimated 8% among US women 20% years of age and older (Slawson, et al. 2013). Prevention of fractures had been found to be strongly related to calcium and vitamin D

Being one of the leading countries in Health technology and also in food and beverage leaves most people choosing between living a healthy lifestyle and indulging in the varieties of food we offer. Across the country, many people are living with pre-existing conditions, living in food deserts, living below the poverty line and a long list of other factors that either hinders them from eating healthy or force them to eat healthily. When trying to live a healthy lifestyle in this country not only does the promotion of prevention matter, but also the promotion of Career and job opportunities matter just as much. In the United States, Money equals Power and money also equal the opportunity to create and live a healthier lifestyle.

The WHO definition of non-medical determinants of health is: “… the conditions in which people are born, grow, work, live, and age, and the wider set of forces and systems shaping the conditions of daily life. These forces and systems include economic policies and systems, development agendas, social norms, social policies and political systems.”
Over the years, the social determinants of health (SDOH) have been receiving more attention due to its importance in determining peoples’ health access, health quality and health outcome. The social determinants of health have been described by various scholars as the situation or environmental condition in which people are born, or where they grow, live and work; unfortunately these conditions have continued to affect and determine people’s ability to access proper care.1-5 In other words, the SDOH continues to consciously and unconsciously influence people’s access to most opportunities in life including access to healthcare services both in developed and developing countries.2 This issues have continue to deteriorate in most developing countries increasing people’s susceptibility to multi-morbidity among different age groups, with a slight increase among the elderly.6
Social determinants of health has been a large topic for many years and can have a positive and negative effect on individuals, families and communities. (World Health Organisation, 2009) The social determinants of health are the conditions in which people are born, grow, live, work and age, including the health system. These circumstances are shaped by the distribution of money, power and resources at global, national and local levels, which are themselves influenced by policy choices. Health shapes our life, if you practice bad health practices, chances are you’re often sick, overweight, disease, or other medical issue. There are three main points of a person’s health, not just their physical health. The three parts are; social, mental/emotional, and of course physical. Setting health goals depends on age, body, and health of a person. I am 14 years old, and I am 5 feet tall, around 100 pounds. I’m generally the correct size for someone of my age. Though, it’s hard to achieve perfect health.
Health is an individual’s ability as well as communities to reach their potential. Health is not the absence of sickness, as measured by clinical presentations, but of a functioning sound body, soul and spirit. The World Health Organization defines health as an optimistic notion putting emphasis on social, personal means and physical capabilities (WHO, 1998). Health promotion practice has many phases that guide and ensure its effectiveness. It serves to prevent the development major health problems; this ideal also needs to be incorporated fused into nursing students’ learning curricula in order have a successful outcome. In addition, health promotion should also be included in the health program
Not only is it the individuals lifestyle that contributes to their overall health, but it is also things such as their environment that they live and the circumstances they live in (World Health Organization). These are called determinants. When discussing environment pertaining to health, we must take into consideration that this also means the social, economic, physical environment. As stated by Levins and Lopez, “Genes may influence how we relate to our environments, while society can determine the environments that we face..” (p. 270) indiciating that it is not only one factor that determines our health, but many. At a York University Conference held in Toronto in 2002, 14 different social determinants of health were using ranging from Aboriginal status to unemployment, to food insecurity (Mikkonen, Raphael, 2010). There are also factors such as income and social factors, education, genetics, social support networks, health services and even gender that are determinants of health. Something we individuals need to remember is that we cannot blame people for having bad health when some of the determining factors are completely out of their control. I feel that a person 's physical environment are one of the most important determinants of health due to the damage it can do to one if they have a poor environment surrounding them. Where an individual is born and raised is not a choice that people get to

Maintaining a healthy lifestyle is more important today than past years. With the development and improvement of myriad medicines, along with food additives and genetically engineered food it is not surprising that people need to care more for their bodies. At the same time, it has become more common for these people to understand the many components that create a strong body, and the factors that lead to health and wellness. There has been much research that indicated the several benefits obtained in people 's daily life, by incorporating the three factors that define health and wellness. These three factors include physical fitness, nutritional health, and mental health.
Social determinants include factors, which involve an individual’s health condition pertaining to their way of living (Healthy People 2020, 2016). The conditions in where individuals are born, live, go to school, worship, participate in activities, should all be considered when discussing

When people think of the term health most of the time people think of it in terms of the physical aspect. But, really the term health is made up from several different terms such as class, race, gender, education, and income which can all affect a person 's health in many different ways.
