A Brief Look at John F. Kennedy

“ Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country. “ A famous quote spoken by a U.S President whose term of office was cut short by a belligerent man. John F. Kennedy or JFK would grow to become one of the United States’s smartest and youngest Presidents in history. Unfortunately for JFK his life and term as President was cut short after being assassinated by Lee Harvey Oswald. Although JFK did not serve a full term as President he affected our nation in many positive ways and was on the best presidents we ever had.
John Fitzgerald Kennedy also known as “JFK” because of his initials was the 35th President of the United States and served in office from 1961 to 1963 ( “John F. Kennedy” ). Kennedy was born on May 29, 1917 in Brookline, Massachusetts to his father Joseph Kennedy Sr. and to his mother Rose Kennedy. ( “ John. F Kennedy General Summary” ) JFK’s father Joseph Sr. was a wealthy investor and expected John and his brothers to be politically ambiguous at a young age. ( “ John. F Kennedy General Summary” ) After attending Harvard, John joined the U.S Navy and helped fight during World War II. ( “ John. F Kennedy General Summary” ) When JFK came home from the navy after World War II ended he became a Democratic Congressman in the Boston area and later a Senate member in 1953. Kennedy” ) As he climbed through the political ranks JFK ran for President and beat out Richard Nixon in 1960 making JFK the first Roman Catholic President and the 35th president of the United States. (“ 35th President John F. Kennedy” ) While in office JFK’s main goals were to land a man on the moon first and to meet soviets half-way in an active nuclear test ban treaty. ( “John F. ...he United States so its unclear as to why Oswald would kill JFK. As we assume Oswald’s goal was to assassinate JFK he did achieve his goal and a new President was put in place, Lyndon B. Johnson. ( “John F. Kennedy” )
John F. Kennedy’s life and presidency may have ended early but it does not take away the fact that John F. Kennedy was one of the most smartest and best presidents the United States has had. JFK saved us from continuing fear of nuclear war with Russia by signing a treaty with Nikita Khrushchev. JFK also helped the U.S land a man on the moon first even though Kennedy was not around to see it he raised money to put in the space program while he was in office. Kennedy was a great President and will forever go down in history as one of the best Presidents the United States had. It is unfortunate that someone had to stop Kennedy’s term of office short.
