Men wore many kinds of dressy style clothing that you would wear to work. They wore white dress shirts with tailored jackets and leather winged tipped shoes. They also wore silk ties with many of these outfits. Women wore white blouse, shirts with below the knee skirts and tailored jackets. During the 1970’s, the United States experienced "Watergate," the most famous political scandal in American History. It was a scandal that began with a break in and ended in resignation. On June 17, 1972 five intruders were caught and arrested for illegally entering the rooms of the Democratic National Committee headquarters in Washington’s Watergate Complex. "The investigation of the break-in lead directly to the reelection campaign of President Richard M. Nixon and unraveled a web of political spying and sabotage, bribery and the illegal use of campaign funds" (Washingtonpost.com). Two-and-a-half-years later along with a number of court hearings led to the 1974 resignation of Richard M. Nixon. Nixon became the first President in U.S. History to resign. During all the political drama the United States brought an end to an unpopular war and made great strides in space exploration.
The 1980’s is one of the most interesting decades that was experienced in the United States. Dealing with the stock market, the coming up of new inventions, all the way to the types of music people listened to. During the 1980s, the only thing that made Americans be “Americans” was because of the things they were provided with. Many Americans had fun throughout the 1980s with materialistic, glamorous, and technological life styles; therefore there were different economical problems that Americans faced.

In the 90’s, the concept of music was a huge explosion compared to previous years, though there were many more acts of creativity. Primarily, music played a huge part in society as apposed to other decades. Most well known from this time were the bands Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Radiohead, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Sublime and Rage Against the Machine, just to name a few. These bands most defiantly showed the creativeness that America possessed and is proved by the amount of 90’s music that is still widespread. Another concept of creativeness was fashion. Two main forms of clothing came around that set America aside from the rest of the world. This was the beginning of jeans and flannel shirts. Having these pieces of clothing widespread throughout the country defiantly set America apart. Finally, pop culture in this era also showed our nations creativeness. Pokemon had stuck out the most from everything else. The production of millions of “baseball cards” with animated animals on them was a huge sensation for kids and teens across the country. The enjoyment of having a strong pull of creativeness in America was not a bad thing at all, yet a decade cannot always be perfect.

On a cold winter’s morning on the 28th day of January in the year 1986, America was profoundly shaken and sent to its knees as the space shuttle Challenger gruesomely exploded just seconds after launching. The seven members of its crew, including one civilian teacher, were all lost. This was a game changer, we had never lost a single astronaut in flight. The United States by this time had unfortunately grown accustomed to successful space missions, and this reality check was all too sudden, too brutal for a complacent and oblivious nation (“Space”). The outbreak of sympathy that poured from its citizens had not been seen since President John F. Kennedy’s assassination. The disturbing scenes were shown repeatedly on news networks which undeniably made it troublesome to keep it from haunting the nation’s cognizance (“Space”). The current president had more than situation to address, he had the problematic undertaking of gracefully picking America back up by its boot straps.
The 80’s were probably the decade of the most popular and memorable movies. They are the kinds of movies that we now call “classic” and “original”. These movies have influenced the ones we watch today in many ways from movie techniques to sequels. They have kept us entertained from back in the day ‘till now.
