he media continues to perpetuate negative representations of women. Women are expected to look a particular way in regards to hair, weight, nose shape and size, clothes, shoes, make up and many more personal attributes. This has started to take a toll on how women of younger generations view themselves. How they view themselves is what often leads to eating disorders as well as depression. It is truly heart breaking to see both the physical and emotional effects of these two horrific mental illnesses. The media is not the only source of female and male disempowerment; those who write articles on what they believe is the “perfect woman” in particular are also getting into the minds of women and young girls. …show more content…

His post is entitled “8 Traits Of A Perfect Woman.” He believes a woman must be attractive, confident, feminine, intelligent, mature, semi-independent, loyal and decisive. This article is just one reason why some women feel pressured to maintain a size two body and purge their meals straight after consumption. Articles such as these are what make woman of any age feel diminished, disempowered and useless. Is it wrong to find a woman attractive only because of her physical attributes?

Some people would believe it is morally correct to find a woman attractive only because of her physical traits. However, the United Church of God believes that inner beauty is just as important as outer beauty. This is the kind of mentality society should adopt, instead of demeaning women based on their exterior appearance.
