The Great Awakening was a superior event in American history. The Great Awakening was a time of revivalism that expanded throughout the colonies of New England in the 1730’s through the 1740’s. It reduced the importance of church doctrine and put a larger significance on the individuals and their spiritual encounters. The core outcome of the Great Awakening was a revolt against controlling religious rule which transferred over into other areas of American life. The Great Awakening changed American life on how they thought about and praised the divine, it changed the way people viewed authority, the society, decision making, and it also the way they expressed themselves. Before the Great Awakening life was very strict and people’s minds were
The Great Awakening was known because it brought many new ideas that influenced the American Revolution. In the 1730s, religion was the main idea that the Great Awakening introduced. It all started with Jonathan Edwards. He was a very religious man that went to Yale to become a pastor. After graduating from Yale, he had a huge spiritual encounter, which the Puritans called a “conversion”. Throughout the years, he became a minister and then took over his grandfather’s place as a minister of the Puritan Congregational Church, where he led local religious revivals.
The Great Awakening was a revival/ evangelical movement that swept through both England and the American Colonies within the early 18th century. During this revival Englishmen and American Colonists alike found themselves being swayed by the talk of such preachers as “ Jonathan Edwards” or “George Whitefield”, who were both noteworthy evangelists at the time. After hearing a sermon, audience members would be scared that if they died that day, they 100 percent would be going to the fiery depths of hell. In an essence, the Great Awakening was a point in time when people started getting serious about God/ being a christian.

Of the copious number of topics in the world today, nothing captivated Sigmund Freud’s attention like psychology did. Known as the founder of psychoanalysis, Sigmund Freud laid the foundations for comprehending the inner workings that determine human behavior (1). Through his involvement with the hypnosis, dream analysis, psychosexual stages, and the unconscious as a whole, Freud began a new revolution that faced its own conflict but eventually brought the harvest of new knowledge and clarity to the concept of the mind.
The first Great Awakening is one of the most significant religious movements in the American history that started in 1730s. To understand this, there needs to be a thorough explanation of the two main figures involved in this movement. Jonathan Edwards is the first one. He was an American preacher that worried about people who found wealth more valuable than religious beliefs. There was a new preaching style created by Edwards and other preachers, which provokes fear in hell. Edwards described hell with details and the listeners began to fear the God and his anger. Throughout my live, my behavior towards change has evolved into a more mature acceptance of the inevitable. As an adolescent, I failed to contemplate the reasoning behind changes that occurred within my life. I neglected to seek the deeper meaning of why modifications were being implemented. However, as an adult, I consider the rationale and possible outcome of the change taking place. I have grown to realize that the success of each individual situation depends on the attitude it is approached it with (Blais & Hayes, 2011).
Introduction: Each night, every one of us dreams as our subconscious processes the various paths we’ve taken during the day, and what lies ahead. Ever since I watched the movie “Inception,” I’ve had an interest in dreams. Why we have them, what they mean, etc. Dreams keep us guessing and no one knows what to expect. Dreams let us escape our crazy and complicated lives and in most cases, we can interpret our sometimes seemingly impossible dreams and put meaning behind them in the hopes of learning more about ourselves in relation to the real world. Understanding the history, science, and interpretations behind dreams will allow people to appreciate the work of our subconscious and the unique way in which the brain functions.
These doubts get even deeper when dreams are to be compared to mental illnesses, or the use of drugs that alter the perception of reality. What is reality and what is invented by the mind? If the experiences are different, the line between awake life and dreams in these cases becomes thinner as the results appear...
One great way I think I could improve spiritually for greater fulfillment and peace in my life would be to study a topic that would help me grow and improve as a person. Setting tangible goals or goals of how I can improve my character will only have a positive effect on the environment and others around me which in return might limit some stress and bring more peace into my life. Studying a topic that will help me grow as person will not only challenge me but is actually the place where change for the better first begins. Another thing I can do to grow spiritually would be to spend more with nature and the environment and use it to help me not only achieve harmony but homeostasis as well. Simply getting out doors more even if it is to take a simple walk or try a new bike route will help me find more peace in my life by leaning to clock out the noise of everyday hassles and really quite my mind. I also find that spending anytime in nature seems to almost slow time down along with those unwanted urgencies I face every day. Surrounding myself in a healthier pace of life in the end will only clam my mind while I experience nothing by nature and forget about all the stress of a fast paced lifestyle I live. My third thing I could do in order to find greater fulfillment would be to actually take the time out and physically practice things that engage my body, mind and spirit. Setting aside more time to engage in spiritual practices will not only lead to greater fulfillment and
