The most memorable event I have ever attended was game four of the 2014 Stanley Cup Final between the New York Rangers and the Los Angeles Kings. This game took place in Madison Square Garden in New York City on June 11th, 2014. This event was memorable for many reasons, the first being that my dad surprised me and my sister with tickets to the game the day before and told us we would be leaving early the next morning to go to New York. The Rangers are a team that we have grown up loving and watching because of our dad and the idea that we were going to go watch a Stanley Cup final game in Madison Square Garden with him was so exciting. Because of this, the arena was louder than any game I had been to before but there was also an intense atmosphere within the fans as the game was being played because of the high stakes. We had seats way at the top of Madison Square Garden where you almost couldn’t see the whole ice if you stood up but every seat around us was filled with people decked out in blue rooting for the Rangers. Lastly, this event was so memorable because of how the game was played and its outcome. The Rangers took the early lead scoring two goals in the first and second period but soon after the Kings scored to make it 2-1. The third period was then absolutely nerve-wracking while they tried to hold onto the lead. I remember there was a time during this period that Kings almost scored but the puck stopped just before the goal line. In the end the Rangers ended up taking the win in game four to hold on to the hope of winning the Stanley Cup. Everyone in the crowd erupted as the final buzzer signaled the end of the third period and the Rangers win, which was then followed by people pouring out into the streets to continue

Since the United States isn’t very powerful in the field of hockey, this event is merely celebrated throughout the country. If the tiniest things hadn’t of went our way, the ending would be a completely different story. The best call was deciding to put in Mark Johnson in the end of the first quarter. If you ask any Canadian what they were doing on september 28 1972, there it a good chance they will say watching the Canadians and soviets battling it out for the title of the summit series. It was one of the largest rivalry games in Canadian history. Kids in school watched the games during class, People across the nation sat on the edge of their seats for the month of september and were thrilled when Canada pulled off the victory. All of the hype leading up to the event made people wonder if the summit series was the biggest event in Canadian sports history or even Canadian history in general.There is no doubt that the summit series was a huge milestone for Canada and brought the nation together for an exciting ride, even to this day we still see the effects of this great event, it sculpted the game of hockey that we know and love today.
The night was young, times were crazy and it was only the beginning of my senior year. It was still warm out and it still felt like summer; we didn’t know that we could have this much fun in one night, but we knew we were going to have fun no matter what. The place was Halifax, Nova Scotia. The Day was Friday, August 7, 1987. On this day, a man, Troy, and a woman, Trina, rejoiced in the birth of their first born child, a son. A son that would soon choose to live, eat, and breathe hockey. A child, unknown at the time, who would soon take the National Hockey League by storm. A child who would become the greatest, talented player of all the hockey world, and who would remarkably achieve this goal by the age of nineteen.
The team was ready, we had been working extremely hard for the past seven months for this. We were all in great shape and very rested. A few of the returning players were meeting me at my house to carpool to the final game of the state championship tournament. Everyone knew that the hard work had paid off when we won the semi-final game the preceding day.
Me, and my friend named Matt were talking about sports one day last year, when our conversation took a drastic turn into an argument. The sport of topic was Basketball, and it was about a week before the NBA Finals. I was saying how the Los Angeles Lakers were going to take the whole playoff championship with out a loss. He on the other hand was a Philadelphia fan, and wanted to see the 76ers beet the Lakers in the NBA finals. I thought it was preposterous for him to say the Lakers would loose the NBA Finals, after not loosing one game on the way there. And so our argument started there.
It was November 1st and it was the day of my last volleyball game. I ran into my friend Eri and we started talking about the game later that day. It was against Tunkhannock. They were the best volleyball team from our area, and wouldn’t you know it on our senior night we had to play against them. Senior night was the one night where the seniors were recognized, whether they were good or not. The whole day the team was joking about how much we would lose by against our rival team. In a game to fifteen we thought we would end up owing them points.
