During this experiment, a reaction was conducted in order to convert 2-methylcyclohexanone to 2-methylcyclohexanol, using sodium borohydride as a reagent. Once the reaction was deemed to be completed, the product was ran through an IR and NMR machine. The results from each machine will serve as a way to confirm the formation of our product. The information from the data revealed the transition of 2-methylcyclohexanon to 2-methylcyclohexanol after the reaction. The information and techniques used in this lab, can be applied to manufacturing techniques that are used in many industries. Such industries range from food to textile.
